Welcome to the Valerie Lissette School of Dance, located at 62 Fairfield Road, Hamilton, New Zealand. With a rich history dating back to 1920, our institution has earned a well-deserved reputation for providing excellent dance training and delivering spectacular theatrical performances.

As the largest examining and training body for ballet in the world, we are proud to be affiliated with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). Recognized globally, RAD examinations are held in over 70 countries, ensuring our students receive the highest standards of dance training. Our carefully devised syllabus is designed to challenge and nurture young bodies, ensuring they can easily cope with the demands of ballet.

In addition to ballet, we offer a strong support network for teachers through the New Zealandn Jazz Dance Association (AJDA). This association allows teachers to share their knowledge and experiences in teaching and choreography. Our syllabus incorporates various dance styles such as Funk, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Musical Theatre. By focusing on strength, technique, flexibility, and performance, we provide a well-rounded dance education that complements our ballet training.

We are also proud to be affiliated with the Tap Dance Institute (TDI), an Australasian Association dedicated to the teachers and students of the 21st Century. Our tap syllabus aims to create an interest and a genuine love for dance in today's young people. Alongside the traditional tap syllabus, we now offer "Beat It" classes, which are American-style tap classes that are best learned after some formal tap training.
