Welcome to Busy Bees Southbrook! We are an establishment located at Rangiora, South Belt, 89 in New Zealand. As a point of interest and school, we are so fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful community. We actively participate in local celebrations, support local businesses, and engage in community events such as making scarecrows for the Rangiora Food Garden and participating in the Woodend Spring Fair and Santa Parade each year. Through these connections, we have the opportunity to get to know our individual families so well.

At Busy Bees Southbrook, our dedicated Kaiako and whānau form strong and trusting relationships, which support well-settled tamariki (children) to take on transitions with ease. We strive to create a sense of belonging, welcoming new families as part of our centre whānau (family).

Our centre environment is large, natural, and inviting. One of our highlights is our secret garden, which is a real favorite among our tamariki. It is a place where we grow and cultivate fruit, herbs, and vegetables, allowing children to smell, touch, taste, and explore with their senses. Additionally, our spacious outdoor area provides ample opportunities for gross motor development and encourages kaitiakiship (guardianship), as tamariki learn and discover more about their natural environment and how to care for it.

Exploring and strengthening connections with our local community is something our tamariki really enjoy. It provides numerous learning opportunities as children practice following instructions, engage in research, and explore the world around them using their senses. Our regular and planned excursions also provide great learning experiences about health and safety, while allowing children to see new things, meet new people, and develop working theories about the world around us.

At Busy Bees Southbrook, we love to invite parents and whānau to be a part of our program in any way they feel most comfortable. We hold lots of family events and parent evenings to provide opportunities to strengthen partnerships. We seek to understand, support, and celebrate our families' cultures and values, providing an inclusive environment where family aspirations can be realized.

We are committed to following the aspirations of the New Zealand National ECE Curriculum, Te Whāriki. Te Whāriki envisions kaiako in early learning settings working in partnership with parents, whānau, and the community to realize this vision. Our curriculum empowers children as lifelong learners, starting from their early exploration of the world around them and preparing them for school.

The first five years of a child's life are incredibly significant and influential. We understand this and strive to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for every child in our care. Outdoor play is one of the most important parts of a child's development and education. It encourages physical activity, creativity, and exploration.
