Manu Tukutuku 32 Riverton Drive, Randwick Park, Auckland 2105
About the Business
Welcome to Manu Tukutuku, a unique establishment located at 32 Riverton Drive in Auckland, New Zealand. As a point of interest in the local community, Manu Tukutuku holds a special place in the hearts of the residents of Randwick Park.
The story behind Manu Tukutuku is a testament to the power of community collaboration. A small group of passionate Randwick Park residents partnered with the Manurewa Local Board, led by Angela Dalton, to design, develop, and lead the development of the park. In 2014, the Randwick Park Community and Sport Trust was established to serve as the legal entity responsible for the park's care and maintenance.
The founding members of the trust, including Bruce Howe, Dave Tims, Keo Mataroa, Anna Scanlan, and Tony Rakich, all Randwick Park residents, worked tirelessly to bring this community dream to life. Their dedication and commitment to the project are truly commendable.
Angela Dalton, an Auckland City Councillor and the Chair of the Manurewa Local Board, also played a crucial role in supporting the community's efforts. She walked alongside the residents, offering guidance and assistance when necessary, but always respecting their autonomy. The successful realization of this community-driven project stands as a testament to the power of empowerment and governance at a distance.
Manu Tukutuku is not just a physical space but a symbol of community empowerment and unity. It represents the heart and soul of Randwick Park and will forever hold a special place in the memories of those involved.
Recently, a new playground was built beside the beautiful Manu Tukutuku building, and the community came together to celebrate this milestone. Rangi McLean blessed the playground, marking its significance as a place of joy and fun for the children of Randwick Park.
The success of this project would not have been possible without the support and collaboration of various stakeholders. The community of Randwick Park, the children of Randwick Park School who contributed to the playground's design, the Randwick Park Residents Association, and the youth leaders all played a vital role. The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA), as well as the Manurewa Local Board Chair Angela Dalton and Councillor Daniel Newman, have been unwavering advocates for the park, skate park, building, and playground.
To all who have been part of this incredible journey, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your contributions and support have made Manu Tukutuku a reality, and we look forward to welcoming you to this vibrant and community-centered establishment.
