"Some excellent reviews of this place inspired us to come for breakfast. Well, it possibly was a bad day in the kitchen, like the chef had broken their arm and was backfilled with an apprentice... I don't know how to justify its high rating otherwise. Salmon crumpets. The crumpets were nicely arranged on a plate with some salmon, sauce and greens. Sorry to say that but these heavy tasteless pieces of dough barely could be called crumpets. Even store-bought version could give odds to it. The same story happened with pancakes whose taste was a far cry from their appearance. It was embarrassing to see how someone put good efforts into serving the plates but failed in making a basic dough. Such a waste of good ingredients and time. If you're into crumpets or pancakes I really-really suggest you look elsewhere or stick to smth else. (I don't even want to mention the price tag for this poor excuse for food as there are much better ways to spend 27$ per plate ) The coffee, on the other hand, was top-notch. The barista seems to have confident hand and good skills. Definitely recommend."
"What a lovely spot for brunch. The options were all amazing. Great service is a small cafe tucked down a corridor off High St. Take the time to search out this place."
"Hidden secret in Auckland CBD. On arrival we were greeted with sparkling water (at no additional cost) for our party of 5. We didn’t book so we were extremely lucky to get a table. It was a Tuesday so I would recommend booking a table to avoid disappointment as it became quite busy. The food came out super fast and the service was friendly. The meals were substantial and filled our bellies. We felt like we were eating at a local cafe instead of the CBD as the city noise was minimal. Glad we stumbled into this wonderful cafe. Highly recommend a visit."
"Hello Chuffed - some tips coming from a restaurant manager with a 5+ years experience. These tips are dedicated for your waitress to improve her service. Visited on Good Friday at 1.30 pm 15% surcharge applied (no problem at all) Greeted by an Asian waitress with tattoo who pushed us to order as the kitchen was closing. Tips : Alternative way to not make customers feel uncomfortable and annoyed is to let them know as soon as they are seated "Hi just letting you know that our kitchen is about to close in ___ mins, are you able to order by ____pm" We clearly said we do not want berry compote on the pancake. It came with berry compote. She took it back to the kitchen, came out and said "Sorry as the kitchen is closed. We can't make a new one, but we can remove the berry compote instead." Hence the photo attached showed that the berry compote was removed. For me - this is RIDICULOUS. What if the future customers are allergic to berries or are celiac and the customers have to eat the Non-GF due to her not taking the order properly. Tips: We're humans - we cannot remember every request customers order. Have a pen and notepad with you to write down customers order and requests."
"Made a reservation. However, they didn't ask for our reservation, but we got seated really quickly anyway. It was quite busy, so I would recommend making a reservation if you do go. The food was really nice and big portions which were very filling. The restaurant has a nice breakfast vibe and helpful staff. Definitely recommend going for breakfast or brunch!"
