About the Business
Welcome to Hutt Valley District Health Board (HVDHB), located at 638 High Street in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. As an establishment dedicated to health, we strive to provide the best healthcare services to our community.
At HVDHB, we believe in choosing the right healthcare for you and your whānau (family). That is why this winter, participating community pharmacies are offering a free Minor Health Conditions Service, ensuring that you receive the care you need. Additionally, we are proud to announce that everyone in Aotearoa New Zealand aged 5 and over can now receive their free COVID-19 vaccination or booster.
Our commitment to the safety and well-being of our community extends beyond healthcare services. Recently, HVDHB received a seismic assessment that deemed the Heretaunga Block to be earthquake prone. Rest assured, we are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety of our premises and the people within it.
In light of recent developments, we want to inform you about the industrial action being undertaken by the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists (ASMS). Senior doctors and dentists employed by Te Whatu Ora, who are members of the ASMS union, plan to participate in this industrial action. We assure you that we are working diligently to minimize any disruptions to our services and provide the care you need.
Nau mai, haere mai! Welcome to Te Whatu Ora Hutt Valley. We encourage you to stay well and help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Our website provides valuable information about vaccinations, testing, tracing, isolation, care, and COVID-19 cases across our motu (islands).
We understand that accessing healthcare advice and assistance is crucial, which is why we offer various avenues for support. You can access online resources at any time, visit your local pharmacy for healthcare advice, or call free phone numbers like Healthline. Additionally, we offer the 1737 service, a free helpline for New Zealanders feeling down, anxious, overwhelmed, or in need of someone to talk to. You can call or text for free, day or night. Learn more about our Mental Health, Addiction, and Intellectual Disability Services (MHAIDS) and how we can support you.
We are pleased to inform you that the industrial action planned for Wednesday, August 9th, by the New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) will not be going ahead. This ensures that our dedicated nurses can continue to provide the highest level of care to our community.
As a testament to the success of our initiatives, one of our projects to expand our district's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has reached significant milestones. We are proud to be growing and improving our healthcare facilities to better serve our community.
At Hutt Valley District Health Board, we are committed to providing exceptional healthcare services, ensuring the well-being of our community, and supporting you in your health journey. Join us and be a part of Kia Ora Hauora, as it has helped many individuals reach their goals and improve their lives.

Reviews
"90 ^ of staff are amazing - Modern ‘"
"Have to wonder at some of these reviews.....there's some nutty people about that's for sure.... Anyway, when we unexpectedly had to go to the emergency department, we were treated very kindly. Staff very helpful. I don't know how they do it in these times of Covid. A lot of the staff really do care. They are working in an old and run-down hospital but that's hardly their fault. They're doing the best they can."
"Brought my grandmother in tonight to the emergency care. We got treated so poorly and almost chased away with them being dismissive. The receptionist was possibly the rudest person I have met in my time in Wellington. I am disgusted by this level of service and cannot ever recommend going here."
"The shrivled antelope ground its way to a halt The counter had no Counternance and the salami was slime It is time Good grief why whine? There is plenty of time, with a psychiatric system pickled by Rhurbarb and mususe of spagetti You MUST rembember to 1 Take your pilks every 4 hours 2 Use a bathroom"
