"If you like minimalism you will love Te Uru. Vast spaces with minimal art. Less is not more. A shame, it's a beautiful building that should be buzzing with the works of Aucklands best artists on display. What is the curator thinking? I go every year there are often more staff than visitors."
"Architecturally this is a fascinating building with all sorts of interesting angles and shapes of walls and rooms. The ambience of the environment was warm and light. The display rooms were inviting and enhanced the artworks they were displaying. The gallery shop held beautiful items, many of which I would purchase if I had the money. I would encourage people to go and soak up the positive energy."
"Although it’s a small art gallery, it offers a variety of art pieces on display. The art building itself has interesting history."
"Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery is an absolute gem! This is the place to come to if you want to experience new and contemporary art. They change their exhibits and installations often, to make every visit fresh and interesting. Your personal taste will inform the visit. Some contemporary installation are brilliantly inspired and inspiring, and showcases local New Zealand history and artists. Although I could appreciate the passion and effort that went into creating those works of art, I just didn't "get" some of the pieces. The building itself is an architectural marvel. It also offers beautiful outside views, displaying the wooded areas and the harbour as art itself. Well worth a visit!"
"I am in love! This gallery is spacious, 5 leveled and filled with stunning, engaging art. There is even a rooftop terrace to take beautiful, scenic photos and take a moment to admire the nature around you."
