"I went there with my husband and my 5yo daughter. And discovered it's a place where most people go for being drunken. A lot of empty glass ampules were everywhere and the people were just sitting inside their cars or caravans to consume the 'things', I don’t even know any names to mention. It's not a family or picnic friendly place at all. And since all the people are mixed (alcoholic) there, didn’t feel safe to stay longer. The beauty of the place is not remarkable either."
"Always a beautiful walk. The only drawback is that there are no toilet facilities. Pathway excellent for wheelchairs."
"The Orangihina Harbourview Park is a lovely park for a stroll, exercise, and relaxation. It is quite big and has various walkways through open fields, planted areas, and all the way down to the Whau River. There are two different carparks, with different walkways and attractions. The weather was typical Auckland. It went from clear blue skies, to overcast, to pouring rain, and back to sunshine again! If you feel up to it, you can walk 1.5km (one way) to the Enchanted Forest. For me, that was a massive bust. It was far to walk, with very few benches, for very little reward. It was so wet, and muddy, and slippery, with no clear path, so I couldn't risk going in more than about 5 meters, which was annoying. Younger and more agile people might want to go and check it out. It's definitely not pushchair friendly. When you enter from the roundabout on Te Atatu Road there is an unpaved carpark on the right (before the big carpark on the left). There is a paved walkway to the right. Follow this path for about 1.2km, with the horse paddocks on the right. The paved road will end, and become a grassy walkway (which at this time is a muddy mushy mess). After some 300m there is a huge electrical tower. The narrow entrance to the enchanted forest is on the left. From the bit I saw, (and the photos I saw from my friend, which prompted me to go), it could be very nice. It just wasn't for me. The rest of the walk/park was enjoyable though"
"Excellent parking spot for travelers and locals, well away from any noisy streets, and a great view out to the waitemata harbour. The car parks mostly suit small cars only. There is limited space for large vehicles but it can be a bit rough and muddy."
"An amazingly beautiful place. From the car park near the roundabout, it's about a 25 to 30 minute walk to the point. The walk is a very wide stoney path, and flat. You can also bike it very easily. The views are definitely worth it, and there is a swimmable beach at the end. There's also quite a nice block of shops near the roundabout, for drinks after the walk!"
