Our base school, situated on Walters Street in Naenae, Lower Hutt, is surrounded by Naenae Intermediate School and Naenae College, fostering a vibrant educational community. At Kimi Ora Naenae, our base school has been open since 2011, offering a purpose-built facility designed to cater to the diverse needs of our students.

Within our base school, we have five classrooms that are equipped with specialized features, including a tracking hoist system, interactive whiteboards, quiet spaces, ample storage rooms, a dedicated computer area, and a courtyard that opens out into our school playground. Additionally, we take pride in our hydrotherapy complex, wheelchair-accessible playgrounds, state-of-the-art sensory room, spacious therapy and meeting rooms, sensory garden, and small orchard.

At Kimi Ora School, we believe in providing our students with a holistic learning experience that extends beyond the classroom. Our students have the opportunity to engage with their peers at neighboring College and Intermediate schools, as well as other vocational services in the area. This collaborative approach allows our students to develop important social skills and expand their horizons.

In 2018, we introduced a new classroom called "Weka" at Manaaki Ability Trust, where a group of our students now learn and grow. The Weka Class offers a comprehensive learning program that encompasses all aspects of the New Zealand Curriculum. Students in this class benefit from real-life experiences and opportunities within the community, such as accessing gym facilities, participating in cooking and craft groups, grocery shopping, work experience, and learning to be independent members of the community.

Furthermore, we are proud to announce that we have opened three satellite classes at Pomare School – Tui, Kakapo, and Ruru – in 2018 and 2020, respectively. Students in these classrooms also have the opportunity to spend time at our base school in Naenae, where they can access the hydrotherapy pool, participate in assemblies, and join in on special events.
