Welcome to Supporting Parents NZ, located at 89 Grafton Road, Auckland. We are an establishment focused on promoting health and well-being for families and individuals in New Zealand. Our initiative aims to enhance the capability of professionals working with whānau (family) experiencing well-being concerns to identify and support them accordingly.

Led by Whāraurau in collaboration with other workforce centers such as Te Pou, LeVa, Abacus, and Te Rau Ora, this project strives to increase the well-being of whānau and their tamariki (children). We have chosen harakeke, a native plant, to represent the SPHC project as it symbolizes the whānau. The rito (shoot) represents the child, the awhi rito (shoots embracing the rito) represent the parents, and the outer leaves symbolize the tūpuna (ancestors).

At Supporting Parents NZ, we offer a range of workshops and resources to support families. Our Single Session Family Consultation 1-day Zoom Workshop is designed to provide practical guidance to professionals working with families. Additionally, we offer a Train the Trainer session in Wellington for those interested in becoming facilitators themselves.

We have created an informative animation, called the Supporting Parents Healthy Children Animation, which showcases whānau-led practices in the context of our Supporting Parents Healthy Children Guideline. This guideline serves as a valuable resource for professionals and families alike.

To further spread awareness, we have also developed an SPHC poster that can be downloaded and displayed in workspaces and waiting rooms. This poster serves as a visual reminder of the importance of supporting parents and their children's well-being.

We understand the unique challenges faced by young people who have a parent experiencing mental health or addiction concerns. Our services are tailored to provide support to these individuals and their families and whānau members.

Supporting Parents Healthy Children (SPHC) is a national program led by Whāraurau, aimed at ensuring that services meet the specific needs of families/whānau where a parent experiences mental health or addiction issues. We are committed to promoting the well-being of families and individuals across New Zealand.
