Welcome to Barnardos Early Learning Centre Henderson! I'm Joanne, the Centre Manager, and I've been a part of the Barnardos whānau for over 5 years. I am excited to welcome your family into our community.

Located in Auckland on Smythe Road, our centre is a safe, vibrant, and welcoming space where your child will thrive and develop a lifelong love for learning. Our main aim is to create the best conditions for your child's learning, wellbeing, and care. We understand the importance of convenience and reassurance for parents, which is why we offer full and part day hours, as well as Storypark - our online parent communication tool.

At Henderson Early Learning Centre, we have a loving team and a tailored environment that are waiting to be discovered by your whānau. We offer local excursions, delicious meals, and fun activities to ensure that your child receives the best care and education possible. Our happy and nurturing environment inspires, stimulates, and empowers your child to learn in their own unique way.

Our outdoor spaces challenge and excite the imagination, while our spacious and light-filled indoor areas offer room for reading, rest, and engaging indoor learning experiences. Our children love painting, waiata, and exploring the many play areas we have to offer.

We believe in building a strong connection with nature and our local community, as it helps your child develop a sense of belonging and identity and positively influences their learning experiences. Being located next to Henderson High School and close to the Henderson train station, we have the privilege of having many wonderful options on our doorstep. We grow our own vegetables and herbs in our garden and regularly go on community excursions to the local library, park, and community events.

Nutrition is important to us, which is why we strive to provide nutritious and delicious meals and snacks to support your child's physical and mental development. We encourage healthy eating habits and offer a balanced menu, using the vegetables and herbs we grow in our meals. Our centre is nut-free, and we are happy to cater to any allergy or dietary requirements.

Affordability is also a priority for us. As a not-for-profit organization, everything we do goes back into supporting your child, the centre, and our community. We also offer fee and ECE subsidies, so please speak to our Centre Manager for further information.

Our qualified and experienced teachers are committed to caring for and nurturing your child. They build a strong connection with each child throughout their early learning journey, ensuring that every child feels supported and their unique needs are met. Our teachers create positive opportunities for your child to develop physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. They guide your child as they navigate new friendships, master new skills, and build independence and resilience to prepare for school and lay the foundations for lifelong learning.

Our teachers are guided by Te Whāriki - NZ's Early Childhood Curriculum. They work closely with your child and respond to their unique curiosities by creating an environment that reflects each child's needs.

We believe that involving families and whānau in our centre and their children's learning is crucial. We connect with you via Storypark, a secure online platform that allows us to record and communicate learning as it happens through photos, videos, audio, and observations. Parents and whānau can receive instant feedback and plan new ways to extend their child's unique interests and abilities.
