Welcome to Strathmore Park Kindergarten, located at 50a Strathmore Avenue in the sunny suburb of Wellington, New Zealand. As one of the sunniest suburbs in Wellington, our kindergarten is fortunate to be bathed in sunshine most of the time, creating a beautiful and inviting environment for our children.

Our outdoor area offers a variety of challenges for learning, including a HUGE sandpit on one side and a large grassy, sloped playground on the other, complete with an ever-popular fire engine. In addition, our new indoor/outdoor space provides more options for learning and play during bad weather.

At Strathmore Park Kindergarten, we pride ourselves on being a richly diverse institution. We celebrate and nurture the variety of home languages, customs, and traditions of all cultures represented in our community. We have a deep connection with our community, with several generations of families attending our kindergarten over the years.

We believe that open communication and strong partnerships with whānau (families) are essential for providing quality learning experiences for our children. We value parent aspirations and incorporate them into our planning for children's learning.

Our dedicated teachers foster a strong sense of Manaakitanga, which encompasses warmth and friendliness, ensuring that quality outcomes for children's learning occur. We also embrace the Te Ao Māori concept of tuakana/teina, where all children are supported and encouraged to be leaders and role models, sharing their expertise with others.

Our programme is centered around holistic learning and development through play and other meaningful experiences, activities, and events. We observe, recognize, and respond to children's interests, needs, and strengths as they emerge through their play and interactions with people, places, and things.

Mealtimes at our kindergarten are held around 11:30 am, providing an opportunity for children to come together at a kai mat to enjoy their lunch and have a quiet rest while sharing stories.

We also have regular visits from the librarian, district nurses, Wellington Aquatics, as well as visits to and from local schools, preschools, and kindergartens, enriching our children's learning experiences.

At the end of each session, we gather together for 10-15 minute mat-times, where children participate in waiata (songs), kanikani (dance), and korero (conversation), ensuring their safe collection by their whānau.
