About the Business
Welcome to Lord of the Fries-Cuba Street, located at 117 Cuba Street in Wellington, New Zealand. As an establishment, food, point of interest, and restaurant all rolled into one, we pride ourselves on providing a unique dining experience that will leave you craving for more.
Our journey began when Bruce and Baksho stumbled upon Lord of the Fries in Melbourne during a chilly winter day back in 2015. Bruce, a committed vegan for nearly three decades, took one bite and instantly knew that he had to bring the deliciousness of LOTF to New Zealand. With Bruce's background in design and Baksho's experience in retail, they embarked on an exciting adventure into the fast food industry, despite having no prior experience in the field.
Their dedication and hard work led them to spend countless nights and face long lines at the Flinders Street Store in downtown Melbourne, gaining invaluable knowledge and expertise along the way. Finally, in October 2016, the doors of our vibrant red container swung open at our launch site on 1 Queen Street. The anticipation was palpable as queues stretched around the corner, and our enthusiastic customers couldn't get enough of the mouthwatering fries, burgers, and hot dogs that our incredible team cooked up with lightning speed.
At Lord of the Fries-Cuba Street, we take pride in offering a diverse menu that caters to all tastes and dietary preferences. Whether you're a vegan, vegetarian, or simply looking for some delicious fast food options, we've got you covered. Our fries are hand-cut from locally sourced potatoes and cooked to perfection, ensuring a crispy and flavorful experience with every bite. "Cold, lifeless, thrown together food.staff seemed completely uninterested in speaking to or serving you. Many menu items unavailable but listed. Lack of staff knowledge"
"Uninspiring vibe. Staff seemed uninterested. Sold out of the beyond upgrade, ribwich and donuts. Food looks slopped together. Not great unfortunately. If you're to drunk to care, it's perfect."
"I recently ordered food from this establishment on 26 April and I'm disappointed to say that it was a terrible experience. Firstly, the food was cold and not fresh, which was unexpected as I have always enjoyed the quality of their food in the past. Secondly, the customer service team was not trained to handle EFTPOS functions properly. They were unable to process a refund or provide a satisfactory solution to address my concerns about the cold and unsatisfactory food. As a regular customer, I expect better quality food and service from this place. This recent experience left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied. I urge others to be cautious when considering this establishment for their dining needs. Overall, I believe that this place needs to improve their food quality and customer service standards, as they seem to be declining. Until these issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this establishment to others. In addition to the issues with the food quality and customer service, I also submitted a complaint through the official website but did not receive any response. This lack of follow-up and accountability is unacceptable, especially for a business that values its customers."
"Didn’t realise it was vegan until read online - interestingly they were rarely advertising in store it was vegan - probably because they know this will put people off. Overall a good dinner, but a bit disappointed by the burger. The chips were absolutely amazing. But the burger (classic) was quite plain. Both the beef and fish patties tasted very processed, and the burger was quite plain overall. Would be good if they give a bit more tomato sauce too."
"As you can see, kumara chips are very soggy. I ordered chicken wings but doesnt look as it is. I paid extra for tartar and end up having 2 buffalo sauce. Do you think buffalo would match the taste of kumara? Plus its disgusting taste. Not recommended at all. Waste of money. No wonder i was the only customer."
