About the Business
Welcome to Pataka Art Museum, located at 17 Parumoana Street, Porirua, New Zealand. As a renowned art gallery, establishment, museum, point of interest, and tourist attraction, we are proud to showcase a diverse range of exhibits and events that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the region.
One of our upcoming exhibitions is "Koe Tau’atāina o e Leitī | The Freedom / Emancipation of the Leitī," running from 18th November 2023 to 11th February 2024. This exhibition explores the Niue heritage journey in Aotearoa and offers a unique perspective on the art of wellbeing through light and shadow.
In addition, we have the "National Exhibition 2023" from 24th March to 7th May, featuring the works of prominent artists such as Ngarongo Phillips, Kahurangiariki Smith, Shairae Taepa, Hori, Pirika Taepa, Cecilia Kumeroa, and Robyn Kahukiwa. This exhibition promises to be a visual treat for art enthusiasts.
Furthermore, we have ongoing exhibitions like "Regeneration - a story of trees" and "Faces from the Collection," which showcase the talent and creativity of local artists. These exhibits provide a unique opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature and the diverse faces that make up our community.
At Pataka Art Museum, we believe in promoting emerging artists and providing a platform for their voices to be heard. Exhibitions such as "Solo across the Pacific" and "Reflections in a pond" feature the works of talented artists like Claire Jensen, Fiona Pardington, Hannah Shand, Kirsty Gardiner, Michelle Arnold, and Brian Gunson, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in their captivating artistry.
We also pay homage to the traditional craftsmanship of the Wellington Guild of Woodworkers, who will be showcasing their exceptional woodworking skills from 5th November to 4th December. This exhibition is a testament to the enduring beauty and creativity of wood as a medium.
In addition to our exhibitions, we offer a range of educational programs, workshops, and events that cater to all age groups and interests. Our mission is to foster a love for the arts, inspire creativity, and engage the community in meaningful cultural experiences.
So, whether you are an art enthusiast, a curious traveler, or someone seeking inspiration, we invite you to visit Pataka Art Museum and immerse yourself in the vibrant and diverse world of art. Come and explore the beauty, talent, and cultural richness that our institution has to offer.
