About the Business
Welcome to Te Waha Point Lookout, a breathtaking tourist attraction located at Anawhata, Anawhata Road, 236 in New Zealand. As an establishment and point of interest, Te Waha Point Lookout offers visitors a truly unforgettable experience amidst the stunning natural beauty of the area.
But Te Waha Point Lookout is more than just a picturesque spot. We are committed to conservation and environmental sustainability. In fact, we have received Jobs for Nature funding to employ staff who undertake vital conservation work locally, contributing to the preservation of the Southern Lakes Sanctuary.
Furthermore, we are proud to support the Government's initiative of introducing 19 new protection areas in the Hauraki Gulf/Tīkapa Moana. These efforts aim to safeguard the natural treasures of this region for future generations to enjoy.
Te Waha Point Lookout is also affiliated with the Department of Conservation (DOC), which offers postgraduate research scholarships for those interested in conservation-related research in the natural and social sciences. We believe in fostering knowledge and understanding to protect our unique ecosystems.
In line with our commitment to environmental stewardship, we encourage visitors to participate in the National Wild Goat Hunting Competition. By competing for national and local prizes, you not only enjoy an exciting experience but also contribute to the protection of our environment.
While exploring the area, you may come across New Zealand fur seals. It is generally best to observe them from a distance and leave them undisturbed. However, there are exceptions, and our knowledgeable staff can provide guidance in such situations.
We are also pleased to share that the latest special issue of the New Zealand Journal of Ecology focuses on frogs. This publication sheds light on the challenges faced by these precious amphibians and pays tribute to the late Emeritus Professor Phil Bishop, a true champion of our native frogs.
At DOC, we take pride in our conservation efforts. Recently, we successfully completed the complex task of fixing a collapsed section of 140-year-old stone retaining walls at Denniston, north of Westport. This restoration work ensures the preservation of our historical heritage.
In light of recent events, we are also reminding dog owners to be vigilant and present during walks, particularly around seal pups. A tragic incident at a Wellington beach underscores the importance of responsible pet ownership in safeguarding our wildlife.
Lastly, as we approach the whitebait season from 1 September to 30 October, DOC is sharing key tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. We believe in promoting responsible practices to protect both the whitebait population and their habitats.
Visit Te Waha Point Lookout and immerse yourself in the beauty of New Zealand's natural wonders. Experience the magic of this tourist attraction while supporting our ongoing conservation efforts.

Reviews
"Over looks Whites Beach. Tracks go from N Piha and Answhata Rd. Link to Fishermans Rock and University Track"
"Stunning. Can do a hike from along the beach, up through the rainforest, to this point. There are a few seats along get east. Or else there is another hike down. You get a stunning view across two beaches and then the ocean straight out in front of you. There is also a seat at the lookout where you can watch the world go by or the sun set or rise. Great hidden gem."
"Great place for a careful walk. Track has steep drops. However, great views at the top."
"Enjoyable walk for an afternoon. Great views up and down the coast."
"Track is well worth the view. Make a point of heading to the trail for whites beach. Do the lookout."
