Welcome to BestStart Waitangirua! Located in the heart of Waitangirua, Porirua, our institution is dedicated to supporting all our tamariki (children) to be their best. We believe in celebrating each child's uniqueness and helping them develop a sense of pride in who they are.

Our convenient location on Button Lane makes dropping off and picking up your child a breeze. We are situated in a community rich in diversity, offering a wealth of exciting learning opportunities. We embrace this diversity and see it as an integral part of our center's identity.

At BestStart Waitangirua, we strongly believe that the relationships with our parents and whānau (extended family) are at the heart of center life. As a member of our whānau, you can expect your child to receive the care, encouragement, and attention they need to prepare them for a happy, well-balanced, and positive future. We see growing heroes as a partnership between our center and your family.

We love being part of the Waitangirua neighborhood and actively engage with the community. You'll often find us out on adventures, exploring what our community has to offer. We also give back to the local community heroes who support us. Currently, we have the Hauora Kai Co-op Eastside using our community room every Tuesday to prepare healthy kai (food) for the neighborhood. This initiative, run by Wesley Wellington Mission, allows us to extend our impact beyond our center.

Our center is divided into different rooms to cater to the unique needs of each age group. The Harakeke Room provides a calm and stimulating environment for our babies to thrive in, with caring and respectful kaiako (teachers) who build trust with your baby. Our large outdoor green environment allows babies to explore at their own pace and height.

The Awarua Room is home to our toddler whānau, where they are encouraged to explore, learn about their world, and increase their independence. Our kaiako are sensitive to their needs and provide a supportive environment. The outdoor space is designed to cater to their active curiosity and developing needs.

In the Rereroa Room, our pre-schoolers are encouraged to think, problem solve, discuss, take calculated risks, and develop independence, social, and leadership skills. We also foster relationships between older and younger tamariki, as we believe these interactions are valuable for both parties.

Our center has received positive feedback from parents who appreciate the friendliness, positive vibes, cleanliness, and variety of learning objects we provide. Many parents have seen their children become more confident and sociable, with noticeable progress in their learning. We strive to create a calm and comfortable atmosphere for both children and parents.

We also take pride in organizing special events and activities. For example, on April 25th, we honored those who fought for our freedom by inviting a special guest from the NZ Army to our center. He spoke to us in his full uniform, providing a memorable experience for our tamariki.
