About the Business
Busy Bees Hobsonville, located at 2 Workspace Drive, Hobsonville, Auckland, is a vibrant and enriching establishment that embraces the Reggio Emilia philosophy. We believe in fostering children's innate curiosity and empowering them to be active participants in their learning journey.
Our centre features six classrooms designed specifically for different age groups, allowing for Tuakana/teina relationships and engaged tamariki. We prioritize empowering children to direct their own learning while ensuring they feel supported and safe. To encourage teachable moments and create happy, learning-focused experiences, we provide a diverse range of open-ended and natural resources.
At Busy Bees Hobsonville, our kaiako (teachers) create beautiful provocations that stimulate curiosity, promote critical thinking, and encourage tamariki to express themselves through various art forms. We believe that every moment is an opportunity for learning, and our kaiako utilize these teachable moments to enrich our children's understanding of the world around them.
We take pride in having a diverse community with many different cultures attending and working in our centre. Cultural inclusivity plays a significant role in our daily provocations and learning, and we actively participate in celebrating different cultural events from around the world. We prioritize building strong foundations with our whanau (families) through whanaungatanga, working in partnership with them to support tamariki in realizing their full potential.
Nourishing food is essential for children's physical and mental well-being, which is why our in-house cook provides freshly made meals each day based on the New Zealand Heart Foundation Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award for Early Learning Centres. We believe that mealtimes also provide an opportunity for children to come together and connect as a group. Additionally, our teachers regularly engage children in baking activities, which not only teach them food preparation skills but also promote independence and simple math concepts.
In our infant rooms, we focus on building loving and trusting bonds, working closely with families to understand infant cues and develop routines that support children's natural rhythms. As tamariki progress, they move into the Nikau room, where they engage in sensory play, outdoor exploration, music, and movement to create a fun and interactive atmosphere while receiving the love and care they need to thrive.
Our toddler rooms are designed to balance the desire for independence with the need for nurturing and care. Our kaiako support the unfolding autonomy of older tamariki, allowing their emergent personalities to blossom.
For our preschool-aged tamariki, our preschool room focuses on social and emotional competence, allowing them to engage in meaningful play with others. As they become more aware of their upcoming transition to school, our resources reflect those used in primary schools. We also offer a reading and writing program for children over 3 years old, encouraging them to enjoy learning about literacy alongside their peers. We work closely with local primary schools to ensure a smooth transition for tamariki.
At Busy Bees Hobsonville, we understand the significance and influence of the first five years of a child's life. We strive to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive. Our dedicated and friendly staff are committed to supporting each child's development and keeping families informed of their progress.

"My son currently goes here and he is thriving. I've found the centre to be super supportive - when I initially enrolled him I needed him in minimum hours as I was job hunting, but also wanted him well settled before I started fulltime work. They could not have been more helpful, and he is now enrolled in fulltime. I find the communication with me to be great and they take so much care of my son."
"I found learning tree hobsonville to be my worst daycare experience ever. I had taken a spot for my daughter to begin going there from early June 2023, this spot was taken almost a year ago in 2022. I had booked a second tour just to see if it all fits in with my daughter’s personality as the first tour was taken when she wasn’t even born. The manager there, didn’t quite like me taking a second tour and quite rudely asked me the reason for it. She huffed and puffed and appeared very disinterested and confused as to why I was there the second time. She thought I was there for transition visit which was not the case as I had clearly mentioned to another lady (Kim) the reason for my second visit. This also means there is lack of communication between staff. This rude and arrogant behaviour of the manager has put me off. All she wanted to know was whether I am giving them the business or not, wasn’t interested in knowing how I felt about the second visit. I emailed the manager about this highly unfriendly customer experience offered by her and she didn’t even bother to respond back. I will never recommend learning tree hobsonville to anyone."
"It worrying that this business hides their reviews when you search them in google. It appears you have to search in Google Maps to have the capacity to view them. Unfortunately this daycare continuously has its teachers resign and doesn't provide the parents with any explanation as to why they leave - we aren't even informed that the teachers have left - leaving us to only assume it has been unpleasant departures and that the daycare is trying to hide the fact teachers continuously leave. I do not recommend sending your children here."
"Great early learning center. Our son loves it there. Staff are very attentive and informative in terms of the day to day operations and if anything comes up. I also like how it’s a diverse group of instructors and kids."
"My child has been with Learning Tree Hobsonville for almost 3 years now and we are so happy with the centre as a family. From the beginning I felt confident leaving him with the staff who were welcoming and attentive and listened to me as a parent. I really needed my child to feel nurtured and as he has continued to grow we have always felt this from the teachers and management. I really value this place as my child's second home and have no hesitation to recommend it to any families looking for a place to support them with childcare."
