Welcome to the Wellington Film Society, located at 10 Kent Terrace in Wellington, New Zealand. As an establishment and movie theater, we are a point of interest for film enthusiasts and lovers of the cinematic arts.

At the Wellington Film Society, we pride ourselves on showcasing fabulous films from near and far, spanning both past and present. With a membership to our society, you gain free entry to all of our screenings, and most of our screenings are exclusive to members only.

All of our screenings take place in the magnificent 800-seat 'Grand' Theatre at the Embassy, providing you with a truly immersive movie experience. You can join our society at any time throughout the year, and your membership will be valid for 12 months from the month you join. For the price of just $120 yearly, you gain access to 35 screenings, which amounts to less than $3.50 per movie. We also offer discounted rates for youth members and special membership options, such as starting with a 3-film sampler and upgrading to a full membership later.

Our screenings take place on Monday evenings at 6:15pm at the Embassy Theatre, allowing you to unwind and enjoy a movie to start off your week. In addition to free entry to our screenings, full membership also grants you free admission to screenings of other federated NZ film societies and generous discounts at the New Zealand International Film Festival.

As a member, you also qualify for discounts at various other cinemas, including The Embassy Theatre, Light House Cinemas, Penthouse Cinema (Monday to Thursday only), and The Roxy Cinema. Additionally, your membership card allows you to bring a guest with you for free to any one screening, making it a great way to share the cinematic experience with a friend or loved one.

Accessibility is important to us at the Wellington Film Society. To ensure that everyone can enjoy our program of great movies on the big screen, we have reserved the front row, Row F, for individuals with mobility issues. These seats are clearly marked with 'reserved' notices, and we encourage self-recognition for those who require them. If you have mobility issues or a temporary injury that makes the steps difficult, feel free to sit in one of these seats and enjoy the film. Additionally, there is a lift to the left of the entrance foyer, providing a step-free experience throughout the venue.
