"I was racially profiled in this store. Last Tuesday evening, the 4th of July, at about 5pm, I decided to buy something for my baby while on a work conference in Wellington. I went into the store, and to my absolute disgust, I was followed the whole time there, whilst browsing in search of something to buy. Everywhere I went in the shop the same young woman, a shop assistant, went. Pretending to 'tidy up' the clothing racks. I tested her and started to observe her. When I moved, she moved, and was next to me, fluffing about, for the whole time I was there, which was a fairly substantial time. I then moved further away, turned to look at her, and to my disappointment, saw her staring right back at me, looking so suspiciously at me. I was infuriated. I am a mother, a professional, a contributing citizen to our society, yet I was treated as though a criminal or at least someone untrustworthy, purely based off my cultural heritage and colour of my skin. I will never step foot in Country Road Wellington again. I am so sick of the casual racism that exists in this country."
"Happy to sell you a product from their online store and tell you it will be couriered to your house in a few days. Unfortunately after almost 2 weeks and no delivery their response is "can take up to 4 weeks". Not telling the customer this fact when their employee makes this purchase on behalf of the customer in store is at best negligent, at worst willfully deceptive. Do yourself a favour and avoid this company. Charlatans."
"The new country road store is much smaller than it used to be and thus everything is very crammed, also all the nice staff seem to have been replaced by ones that somewhat lack in customer service"
"I went to Country Road to purchase a new work bag. I was immediately greeted by Ryan who helped me pick out a fantastic bag. He offered a number of great suggestions and talked me through the deals and benefits of shopping with Country Road. Happy as Larry with my new bag and now a new member with Country Road too. Thanks Ryan, appreciate your help!"
"For an iconic store, they may want to revisit staff training regarding customer service. I was in there around 5pm on a Thursday evening, an hour before closing. Six staff were working and none of them acknowledged me, to the point that they deliberately avoided eye contact. All of them were too busy either standing behind the till or tidying racks. No-one seemed to have been tasked with looking after the customers. Even when carrying around four dresses, there continued to be no acknowledgement of my presence. No help either getting to the fitting room, nor when I was in the fitting room. I wanted to purchase one of the items, but with the service being so appalling I just couldn't bring myself to do it. In contrast I went into another store down the road and was greeted warmly by every single staff member. Lift your game Country Road Lambton Quay."
