As the representative of Aiki Kai Aikido in Melbourne and the state of Victoria, we are proud to be a part of the National Aikido Association of Australia, Aiki Kai (Australia). This association was established in 1965 under the direct authorization of the founder of Aikido, Ueshiba Morihei, also known as O-Sensei. It is a testament to our authenticity and dedication to preserving the essence of this martial art.

Our institution has a rich history, with our originator, Sugano Seiichi (8th Dan), being a direct student of O-Sensei himself. He served as the head of Aiki-Kai in Australia and was the Australian representative to the World Aikido Headquarters (Hombu) in Japan. Following his passing in 2010, his responsibilities are now carried out by the Sugano Foundation, ensuring his legacy lives on.
