"Nice location. Staff very friendly and good service. However the food is very average and a bit expensive for what was presented to us. I ordered the mushroom soup and toast. Initially, I couldn't eat the soup. It wasn't mixed correctly, as i kept feeling big floury lumps in my mouth. I know that's what they were because I've made mushroom soup myself and know you have to blend it really well and cook out the flour to avoid getting lumps. Once I'd stirred it multiple times and flattened out all the lumps with my spoon, I could eat it. My dad ordered the seafood chowder but told me afterwards the prawns were hard and not easy to eat. $6.50 for a glass of orange juice. My mum ordered pancakes, which looked a little sad to me and the supplied one small rasher of bacon looked underdone. The pot of tea was nice."
"This delightful cafe is tucked away at the northern end of Orewa. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There was a selection of cabinet and menu food. The service was prompt. The food, delicious. Definitely worth a visit."
"Great hidden place for a coffee. The atmosphere brings your peace, super warm and cozy, ideal to relax and enjoy your meal/coffee. Kitchen delivers fast and delicious food. It is located next to a stream and outside seems very nice in the summer. Will come back soon."
"What a cute cafe nestled in nature. Such a good vibe, beautiful energy. They have beautiful indoor and outdoor dining. Friendly staff. Coffee had a good punch and meal was delicious. Perfect little cafe :)"
"I've been a couple of times, over the past year, and the experience was pleasant and the food was nice. The first time I was there, I wouldn't rave about the food, as I had ordered the fish chowder/pie and while it tasted OK, I pulled out a number of bones. Staff apologised when we showed them. Second time I visited, I ordered the Moroccan chicken burger ($26), it was a decent serving, which also came with chips, and was much more enjoyable. (The cranberry drink I ordered was OK, but I'm never fond of ordering a juice or fizzy, as I feel it's just a money-maker for establishments - it has to be really good tasting and a decent serving without lots of ice cubes, for me to rate them!). The cottage itself is very quaint and has its own character. I do feel like it hasn't realised it's full potential however. The front of house staff were lovely and the waitresses carried out their tasks well. Work ons: maybe some soft background music, or even sound bird/forest music to match the native bush it's beside, just to add a bit of ambience. And parking area needs a bit of love, especially when it's wet, don't wear your best shoes."
