The Pear Walk 85 Quills Road, Lalla, Tasmania 7267
About the Business
Welcome to The Pear Walk, a hidden gem located on the wine route in the picturesque countryside of Lalla, Australia. Nestled on thirty acres of lush farmland, our establishment offers two charming and distinctive cottages that have been thoughtfully designed by architect Bruce Goodsir to seamlessly blend into their natural surroundings.
As you step inside our cottages, you'll be greeted by leadlight windows, high ceilings, and queen beds, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing stay for couples. Privacy is of utmost importance to us, allowing you to fully enjoy your time here. We provide all the comforts of home, and our generous breakfast provisions allow you the freedom to set your own schedule and make the most of your days, without any constraints.
Surrounded by a Victorian garden that has been expanded into parkland, our cottages are a peaceful sanctuary after a day of exploration. The cottages are set around a green lawn enclosed by pergolas adorned with climbing roses, enhanced by neatly trimmed hedges. This serene setting is complemented by the Pear and Arbour Walks, which were planted over a century ago by the visionary orchardist and traveler, Mr. Frank Walker. These enchanting walks, featuring old pear trees, majestic redwoods, and towering rhododendrons, are a testament to his passion for horticulture.
The Pear Walk also boasts the newly created Laburnum and Crab Apple Walks, which we hope will be enjoyed by avid garden enthusiasts. The Pear and Arbour Walks, each approximately 150 meters long, offer unique experiences - one fragrant and romantic, the other shady and mysterious, currently undergoing restoration. These walks are a glimpse into the history of the property, which was once a thriving orchard and later transformed into a nursery garden. The echoes of the garden's past can still be seen, particularly near the old homestead.
Step through the gate of The Pear Walk and leave the outside world behind. Our extensive grounds provide the perfect backdrop for picnics, and if you're lucky, you may catch sight of the elusive platypus in the nearby lake. In spring, the gardens burst with vibrant flowers, while towering trees offer shelter to shrubs and manicured lawns. The only company you'll have as you wander through the garden are our miniature ponies, adding a touch of whimsy to your stay.
Our location is conveniently close to numerous attractions and activities, making it an ideal base for exploring the region's wineries and indulging in gourmet food. A short drive to the Tamar River allows you to immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery and discover exceptional local art and craft. Launceston, with its array of delightful restaurants and delis, ensures that dining options cater to all tastes and budgets. For nature enthusiasts, bushwalking in the area is a popular pastime, offering awe-inspiring views. Hollybank Reserve and the Lavender farm are just a stone's throw away, along with a plethora of other attractions waiting to be discovered.
At The Pear Walk, we invite you to experience tranquility, beauty, and the warm hospitality that defines Australian country living. Book your stay with us today and create memories that will last a lifetime.
