"A fun filled day on penguin island and detail explanation of the upcoming moving of the penguin s to the mainland on June 6th.the island is a treasure in itself supporting much wildlife and breeding ground for many species"
"I heard they might be closing soon which is a little sad. I've been twice, once in February and once in end of March. Everything looks nicer in February, but the March visit wasn't bad either. You won't see any wild penguins on this island, they appear when all the people leave. The discovery center is the only way of observing some of them. Lovely surrounding if you can get around on the water."
"An amazing place! The Feeders are friendly and knowledgeable, always willing and able to answer questions (even less-than-sensible ones!) The stars, of course, are the Little Penguins, aka Fairy Penguins, whose cuteness factor is immeasurable!"
"The center is where the penguin feeding occurs. Check the times before heading over so that you don't miss it. It was free to watch the feeding with the wildlife tour otherwise you can buy entry there. Quite informative and fun watching the penguins eat all the fish. The center isn't very big though. The toilets are nearby as well as the grassy area outfront which is nice for a picnic. There are also the tracks that head to the two viewpoints on either end of the island here."
"We had a wonderful day visiting the island. A calm casual boat trip. Easy walking. The boardwalks make it easy to get around the island and protect the island. Short walk to the top of each of the two hills on the island. So many seagulls sitting on their eggs (May) and skinks everywhere, pelicans galore and a myriad of other wildlife including a lazy sea lion beached in front of the picnic grassed area. The staff are wonderful, friendly. It was such a chilled time. The views are incredible."
