About the Business
Welcome to Wulagi Primary School, an Independent Public School located in the heart of Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. Situated approximately 18 kilometers from the city center, Wulagi School offers a positive and productive connection to school learning for students of all backgrounds.
At Wulagi School, we prioritize quality teaching and learning in a caring environment. Our dedicated teachers and educators utilize the Berry Street Education Model to understand and meet the individual needs of each student. With a focus on collaboration, our multi-level classes and teaching teams plan together to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive education for all.
Our school is designed with an open-plan layout, featuring classrooms radiating from a central library space. This setup fosters a sense of community and encourages interaction among students and staff.
We are proud to be a diverse community, with families from over 15 different nationalities and language backgrounds, including Indigenous Australia. In fact, 35% of our students identify as Indigenous, bringing the wisdom and culture of Australia's first people to our entire community.
From birth to Year 6, children and families are welcomed into our learning community. We take our responsibility seriously and collaborate closely with families and the wider community. Through our Wulagi Family Centre, we offer playgroups for children aged 0 to 4 years, providing a beautiful play-based inquiry environment for early learning.
Catering to 270 students from Preschool to Year 6, Wulagi School also works closely with Sanderson Middle School to ensure a seamless transition to the next phases of learning. Additionally, our co-located Goodstart Wulagi Early Learning Centre offers long day care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, while Camp Australia provides After School Hours Care for up to 52 children on site. These collaborations allow us to meet the economic and professional needs of families in a variety of respectful, nurturing, and best-practice learning environments.
The name "Wulagi" is derived from the Wurlaki tribe of Central Arnhem Land, who inhabit the Cadell River/Bythe River area between Milingimbi and Maningrida. In 2018, representatives from Wulagi School and the Wurlaki people acknowledged their shared history and commitment to honoring this significant connection through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
At Wulagi Primary School, we are dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching educational experience for all students. Join our vibrant and inclusive community today and take the first step towards a positive and productive future in education.

"My child comes home crying every day because of some kids who are being mean and bullying she has told her principal and he has done nothing"
"I have had all six of my children complete their primary school education at Wulagi school over the past 15 year period. It is a lovely school with fabulous teachers and support staff. Some of the teachers / staff have been at the school for longer than my family has! Having six children, all with different personalities and one with ADHD, I feel that I have experienced a broad range of situations in the education system. I cannot fault the staff at Wulagi school who are extremely professional and clearly love and want only the best for the kids. As a parent I have been supported and consulted with over any issues with my children. It takes a village to raise a child. I am so thankful that Wulagi primary school has been part of my village for all these years."
"This school has severe bullying issues with my disabled transition child being relentlessly bullied, and bashed including being held down and kicked in the head. By students in year 4, 5 and 6 The school doesn't follow up with parents My child is terrorised daily and has completely changed from a student wanting to learn to a sad angry child"
"I went there. Not that good of a school now since some teachers left and things had changed(now in 2021). It used to be a nice school but now its just... Some teachers are awesome (e.g. Mr. C, Mrs B, Miss Ah Wang(though Miss Ah Wang left now)) The school is really sporty and fun but restrictions have been made and not much sport has been going on. I really miss the old school. The school had chopped down a lot of vegetation and it really upsets me that it happened. There's also not much wildlife as there used to be. Hopefully the education hasn't changed because alot of smart people were made in that school."
"great family school. always helpful and ready to do anything to help students."
