At Tiwi Medical Clinic, we are proud to have Dr. Alam as our Principal GP and Medical Director. Dr. Alam is highly qualified, with a range of medical degrees and extensive experience in the field. He is a fellow and full member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RACGP), and his expertise is recognized both in Australia and internationally.

Dr. Alam's impressive qualifications include a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree, as well as three post-graduate medical degrees. He obtained his Master of Tropical Health (MTH) from the renowned Royal Brisbane Hospital and the University of Queensland. He also holds a Fellowship of the RACGP (FRACGP) and a PhD in cardiovascular medicine from the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the University of Queensland.

With over 15 years of experience in the Northern Territory, Dr. Alam has a deep understanding of the region's primary healthcare system. He has worked in various settings, including mainstream clinics and rural and remote areas, providing care to both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal populations. Dr. Alam is dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes for all and has a vision to establish the CTG program.

In addition to his role at Tiwi Medical Clinic, Dr. Alam takes on several other important roles in the medical community. He mentors doctors preparing for the FRACGP exam and supervises overseas trained doctors for the AMC Clinic Exam. Dr. Alam also serves as an examiner for the RACGP, helping medical graduates achieve their fellowship. He is involved in mentoring future doctors through programs such as the John Flynn Placement Program and represents general practice on the Scheduled Substances Clinical Advisory Committee.

Dr. Alam's contributions to medical research are noteworthy. He has published papers on cardiovascular medicine in highly regarded, peer-reviewed medical journals such as the Journal of Human Hypertension and the Journal of Hypertension. His expertise has taken him to Germany, where he worked as an Expert in Hypertension and collaborated with his German colleagues on a published paper.

Throughout his career, Dr. Alam has been recognized for his achievements. He has received scholarships and prestigious fellowships, including The Herdsman Post-graduate Medical Fellowship for his PhD studies in cardiovascular medicine. His accomplishments have also been acknowledged by Marquis "Who's Who" in America and "Who's Who" in the World, which selected his biography for inclusion in their 18th edition.

In appreciation of his dedication to improving the health outcomes of all Territorians, Dr. Alam was awarded a medal by the Northern Territory Australia Health Workforce and GPNNT for his five years of service to the people of the Northern Territory.
