"The reviews are correct. I had my fuel receipt from the Shell on Bundock street (3km away), took photos of the odometer and the distance to empty, dropped my keys back, said "Do you want a copy of the fuel receipt?" and was told "we only want that if its a Diesel". Two days later there was a fuel service surcharge added to my invoice. Now I'm wasting my time trying to get it reversed."

"Not happy with additional fuel charge after dropped car off and returned home. I had fuel receipt, car was full and they still overcharged me $120. My mistake was I didn’t take a photo of car display at the moment I dropped car with kms and fuel gauge. I highly recommend anyone who hires from Budget Townsville Airport get evidence and take photos of everything. Now on offer hand. When arriving and picking up car it was a great experience. We arrived late because of delays at Melbourne airport. The Budget staff member stayed back late after closing hours to assist us and several others get our car hire. Great pick up. Not great drop off. Really not happy with the final charge. I rang and discussed but went no where. Checked other reviews just now and realised I’m not the only one that has been overcharged. "Giving this rating because the 2 girls today, Amanda and Bianca at Budget counter at Townsville Airport went above and beyond to sort me out after cancelled Qantas flight put me in quite a quandary. Rang Budget HO and got foreign speaking customer service guy, who swore black and blue that I could not drop car rental back out of hours as not AH key box....hello????? So of course there is.. After fronting the girls in person they reduced $hire of car extension as I was about to return car and get a cab. They were extremely apologetic and got me back in the car, same price as a taxi Budget needs to get info sorted that's given out....I was prepared to pay the normal full rental, so they nearly lost even the discounted value that the girls gave me. Thanks again Bianca and Amanda for being a bit flexible and honestly concerned with my dilemma."

"Hired a car for 5 days - returned on day 4 as we needed a bigger car for that day so swapped the smaller one out for a larger one - same company. I was a little worried about the swap as the process seemed a little messy however, I was advised at Budget Townsville airport that i would receive a refund for the early return and they will ensure everything would be fine as they have managed this in-house. Instead, $500+ was taken in addition to what was owed. Had both cars washed and petrol tanks full to the top, perfect condition.No email or explanation as to why. Called Budget customer service and they advised Townsville location agreed they were at fault and will provide a refund and email confirmation would be received. Nothing received, no refund so I am again chasing up to see what has happened, should have read the comments before coming here. Process at the airport seemed quick and efficient, cars in good nick, it’s the aftermath you all need to look out for. Very hard to contact the airport budget direct so are forced to use the customer care people based overseas - not ideal at all."
