"There is absolutely nothing grand about this place. The first red flag was the receptionist who was unprofessional wearing a tiny purple tank top and shorts with no shoes. Once we entered our room we were shocked to see a dirty, old and unkempt apartment. There was nowhere clean to sit, the kitchen chairs were sticky and the couch was covered in a stain that looked like it hadn’t even been attempted to be cleaned. There was dust on every surface including the fans which did not work, the light in the living room was blown so it was dark in the middle of the day, and the blinds wouldn’t open despite being a “Seaview” room. The outdoor furniture was so old that the inserts to the cushions was non existent and the bathroom had mould in it. This place has not had a proper clean for I’d say no less than a year. When attempting to check back out and get on the next ferry home, we were told rudely that we will not be getting our money back, told “listen here young lady” and not an apology or offer to assist. I was shocked at how rude and egotistical the guy was on the phone, definitely not good service for a “grand” resort. I don’t reccomend even giving this place a try as we were left with nowhere to stay and had to change our ferry ride to return only 2 hours after we arrived. Disappointing when you travel all the way from VIC to be met with rude arrogance and a budget motel that is charging luxury prices."

"The great - Appartments are great with nice views. Unfortunately the pools are not well maintained (murky, a lot of organic pieces), especially next to block 3. Our daughter got a serious ear and eye infection which ruined our holidays."

"Room 2103 - highly recommend!! An amazing room, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, ocean views and overlooking one of the pools! Grand Mercure Apartments is a 2 minute walk to the ferry (arriving and departing Townsville). This is the perfect place to stay, not just for families but for everyone. Highly recommend for long or short stays!! We'll be back!!"

"The first thing that struck us was that there’s no footpath from the ferry to these apartments, so unless you are in a car straight away, it’s a little stressful getting up to reception to check in. We were in a 2 bedroom water view apartment which was spacious and clean. The view over the infinity pool out to the Coral Sea was lovely. It was great having 2 full bathrooms and 2 toilets. Rubbish bins were tiny and rusted. There was hanging space only in the hall cupboards - chest of drawers in the master. The internal wooden doors for the second bedroom were impossibly heavy to slide closed. The ceiling fan was old and covered in rust. The kitchen was a good size and had an island bench with stools. The oven markings were rubbed off so it was impossible to know what settings to use, this resulted in a burnt wasted dinner one night. We planned to do some washing on the last afternoon but the sachet of laundry liquid had already been used - I hadn’t noticed it was empty in time to ask for a replacement. The infinity pool was too cold to swim in, despite warm sunny 27 degree days. We did hop in the roof top pool which we were told was solar heated but it was brisk too. (That was a nice spot to enjoy the view if you didn’t have a water view apartment) This review is mixed but overall not value for the money spent."

"Absolutely stunning room. Id advise you to booked through 'Best of Magnetic' and not the actual property manager at the Apartments. The girls were so helpful, great customer service and easy to work with. But the lady at the Apartment complex in the reception needs change her job. She does not have any customer service skills, quite rude even when asking a simple question."
