Innisfail, a charming town in the Far North region of Queensland, has a rich history and a vibrant community. Originally home to the Mamu people, the first Europeans stumbled upon this beautiful coastal region when the ship "Maria" was shipwrecked in 1872. The first settler, Thomas Henry Fitzgerald, arrived in 1879 and established a sugar farm, which eventually led to the town's initial name, Geraldton. To avoid confusion with another town in Western Australia, the name was changed to Innisfail in 1910. Inis Fáil, meaning 'Island of Destiny' in Gaelic, is an old name for Ireland.
Today, Innisfail is known for its thriving sugar and banana industries, making it a major service center for the Cassowary Coast Region. The town boasts a variety of shops, including both large chain stores and specialty boutiques, as well as a wide range of dining options. Be sure to visit the Innisfail Temple, known as Lit Sing Gung, which welcomes rituals and services of all religions.
Innisfail is also home to numerous heritage-listed buildings, such as the Innisfail Courthouse, the Canecutter's Memorial, and the Johnstone Shire Hall. Take a leisurely stroll through town to explore these architectural gems and many other points of interest. Don't forget to visit St Andrew's Presbyterian Memorial Church, a historic church listed on the heritage register.
Nature enthusiasts will be delighted by the subtropical rainforest surrounding Innisfail. Warrina Lakes Botanical Gardens offers scenic walking trails that showcase various rainforest and wetland habitats. You can also enjoy a picnic, a barbecue, or let the kids play in the playground. For sports enthusiasts, Callender Park provides sporting venues and a small stadium where local teams play their home games. Make sure to stop by Anzac Memorial Park, where you'll find the Innisfail visitor information I-VAN.
If you're looking to immerse yourself in the rainforest, a short drive outside of town will take you to Wooroonooran National Park. Here, you can experience the Mamu Tropical Skywalk, a thrilling walk among the treetops. For a unique wildlife experience, hop on a Snapping Tours glass-bottomed boat and cruise along the Johnstone River, where you might even spot crocodiles.
Innisfail is also known for its vibrant festivals, with the Feast of the Senses being a highlight. This annual event celebrates the delicious and diverse food of the North Queensland region, offering a true feast for the senses.

"Went in to buy my sister flowers today. They looked awesome.that was until I took them to work and actually looked at them. The orchids weren’t even attached they were cut off just sitting there. Cost me $45"
"Ordered for Mothers Day, Turned up the day before. Had delivered and were left on the Driveway and in the Sun and Rain. Ordered to be in a Glass Cube and arrived in a standard Vase. Rang the Store. All i got was excuses about Innisfail being a small town and attitude. Never Again. Awaiting my refund"
"I ordered through Sarah's flowers for mother's Day. Deb's flowers who are contracted to Sarah's and known to the locals, supplied the worst bouquet of pink oriental lillies I have ever come by. It was 3 Lillies! YestYes,right 3 pink oriental Lillies at a price of $69.95, that's not including delivery that took 3 minutes! The photos on the internet compared to what was received was appualing! Terms and conditions of the contract entered into with Sarah's were not met. Let's hope the replacement will be better because as a consumer I know my rights. I love supporting locals but on this occasion would have been better of doing airtasker to get a bunch off flowers delivered from Woolworths or Coles."
"I ordered my mum some flowers the day before Mother's Day and had the most stunning arrangement delivered to her door on Mother's Day morning! Very happy mum = very happy daughter! Thank you so much ladies for making it so easy as I live in a different state :D"
"The flowers I purchased off the website looked gorgeous. There was a big red vase with an xoxox charm around the top, a bunch of white flowers and 12 red roses. The flowers that showed up however was 6 pink flowers and 6 roses in a shitty clear plastic bowl. This is nowhere near even what was shown colour wise, and certainly the value is nowhere near close, as it was half the number of roses! I was not contacted nor offered any other kind of choice. I am very unhappy with this level of service and will certainly be ringing the shop first chance next opening hour to make my complaint, and furthermore I will never use this company again to buy flowers. This is what the website advertises: Win her heart twice over with this two-in-one knockout gift: romantic hand-arranged flowers and a chic red vase adorned with our silver XOXO charm she'll love - and cherish- for years. Our Keepsakes Collection is only available for delivery in AUSTRALIA. Flowers are subject to seasonal availability. In the event that any of the flowers are unavailable, the florist will substitute with a similar flower in the same shape, style and colour. Stem count, packaging and container may vary. If the requested keepsake container is not available, you will be contacted and offered a second choice Normally I never post reviews, but I hope to help anyone else from falling into the same trap that I did with this particular florist. One very pissed off customer"
