"I just didn't feel comfortable. The bed was too hard, the fridge in my room hadn't been cleaned when I arrived and the kitchen had so many ants. The bathrooms just seemed very old and the breakfast was just toast and cornflakes...I would expect a little bit more for 85 dollars!"
"Highly recommended. Lovely vibe. Very clean. Super comfy bed with firm mattress that supports your back really well (we got the double bed). John was very nice to give us the whole unit, we basically got a private bathroom. Moreover, it was very helpful that we could check-in late as we arrived from Cairns by greyhound and took a local bus (easy bus connection, not much walking, costs A$ 2.40 per person) and managed to arrive around 9.30 pm. Breakfast was given right away, to store in the fridge in our unit, which was really convinience. Wifi is also very good here."
"Stayed for multiple days as part of a business trip. John, one of the owners, was lovely and accommodated my last minute changing plans. For the price you pay, this place is amazing. It's an older property but that gives it some character, and with complementary breakfast (toast, juice, ceral and milk etc.), clean rooms and bathrooms and cool rooms what more could you ask for?"
"Was a very quiet lodge with several rooms and shared bathroom but seperate for men and women and a shared kitchen and dining area with all equipment for you to use. Rooms were neat tidy good size with a small tv mini fridge small table and chairs close to main precinct but still very quiet cosy place and very budget friendly."
"We enjoyed our four night stay at the Coral Lodge. It’s well priced budget accommodation. The location is central to supermarkets, eating areas and stadium. Walking distance to Castle Hill. Cleanliness was extremely good. It’s an older building but maintained well considering it’s in a tropical environment. There were a few unthoughtful guests that did not clean up after themselves. There is clear signage to consider others and clean up but I assume it’s not unexpected others don’t comply in shared facilities. One person commented to me when walking past the kitchen and he saw me washing our dishes and others. “you got the lucky job of cleaning the kitchen”. The dining area is quite small and at capacity it would be hard to find somewhere to sit. There is outdoor seating but it was wet. We enjoyed the continental breakfast provided that consisted of bread, cereal, spreads, jams, milk and juice. The kitchen facilities were useful as we also cooked. Our only issue was a shared bathroom and we’d prefer our own. That’s completely our fault though as we didn’t notice when booking. However, the shared bathrooms were clean and spacious. Again unthoughtful guests left personal possessions and used towels in areas which is also clearly sign posted to think of others. Perhaps a house rules in each room may offer guests the incentive to think of others. Management certainly do their best to achieve a good standard of cleanliness. There is obvious pride and enjoyment within management to keep the areas clean. The wifi was good. Beds were comfortable. We had all we needed and very friendly hosts. As it’s a tropical area it’s wise to remember dampness and rust which is apparent. We had a power outage which was rectified immediately when we notified management and this also can be due to the environment. Thank you for a pleasant stay and we look forward to returning one day. Wendy and Kevin"
