About the Business
Welcome to St Therese's School, a renowned educational institution located in Bentley Park, Australia. Situated just 20 minutes south of Cairns City, in the vibrant 'growth corridor' of Cairns, our school boasts a rich 90-year history in the Edmonton area.
Founded on April 29th, 1929, with an initial enrollment of 30 students, St Therese's School has since responded to the increasing demand for quality education by relocating to its current site in Bentley Park in 1995. Today, our dedicated staff continues the vision and mission of Catholic Education, providing a holistic and world-class learning environment for over 600 students from Prep to Year 6.
Our school community comprises families with occupations in tourism, hospitality, defense, mining (FIFO), and trades, which are highly sought after in this region. With a diverse student population, our enrolments include students from forty-two nationalities and various faith backgrounds.
At St Therese's School, we offer a comprehensive curriculum across nine Learning Areas. These include Religious Education, Mathematics, English, Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE), Science, Technology, The Arts (Art & Drama, Music), Languages Other Than English (Mandarin), and Health and Physical Education (HPE). Additionally, our students have the opportunity to engage in instrumental music tuition as an extra-curricular activity.
We prioritize Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and integrate it into all year levels. Through programs like the Resilience Project, the Daniel Morcombe Curriculum, and Real Talk, our staff ensures that students develop essential skills in resilience, mental health, and personal safety.
As part of our commitment to holistic education, St Therese's students actively participate in competitive team sports across the region, including Rugby League, AFL, Netball, Athletics, Futsal, Soccer, Reader's Cup, Tournament of Minds, and the Cairns Eisteddfod.
We also foster student leadership and community involvement through our Student Leadership Program and Citizenship Awards, generously supported by local businessman Lou Piccone. These initiatives promote a strong sense of identity, collaborative relationships, and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Throughout the school year, St Therese's School integrates key events to enhance and enrich learning. These include global citizenship initiatives, NAIDOC celebrations, ANZAC Day, Book Week, Catholic Education Week, The Premier's Reading Challenge, 100 Days of Learning, and various feast days in the Church's liturgical calendar.
We are proud to have highly dedicated and motivated parents and carers who actively support their children's learning and strengthen the partnership between home and school environments. Parent involvement is encouraged through the local Catholic School Parents Queensland body (the STSC), which organizes social events, parent education sessions, and promotes consultation and collaboration with school staff.

"Amazing school. My daughter loves attending and is enjoying her primary education so far. She has had 3 Amazing teachers"
"Great school. My child moved interstate half way through the school year for prep. Teachers and facilities are wonderful. My little guy settelled in seamlessly, and loves it. Communication between the teachers and parents is second to none. Very much a big family vibe! I highly reccommend this school."
"Wonderful school, Wonderful teachers, Wonderful leadership. With 3 children enrolled at St therese I couldn't be happier with the school. Never an issue that cant be fixed and always up front with things and with a smile. Highly recommended for your kids."
"School had a hard time keeping teachers especially in prep and grade 1. Found it affected there learning and stability. Extra school activities were great and all the teachers and teacher aids were amazing especially the ones we had in prep given the hard tasks they had a hand. Sad to see some of them leave already."
"Great school. We are so happy we enrolled our child in to begin his schooling. Wonderful, helpful staff, modern classrooms but also very hands on learning. So many 'extra' curricula activities for the kids too. The school engages well with families to keep good communication lines open too."
