"Headspace is a fantastic organisation doing fantastic work for young people, although there is a wait list for counselling there are many social groups you can jump straight in to and headspace offers a plethora of online support options. Can not say enough about how wonderful headspace is and how grateful I am to headspace as a whole organisation and to the cairns team in particular ❤️"
"I spent three months waiting to see someone. In that time I was the one that contacted headspace for updates, where I was on the waiting list... Etc. I did not get contacted by headspace once about these things no follow ups... And after waiting for three months my case manager was contacted and they said my problems were to severe for them to help in anyway. They never once contacted me personally to tell me this. Very disappointing and disturbing."
"As a parent I would not recommend Headspace. The initial wait time for appointments are ridiculous, they do not take into account parents input as to why they have organised their child to be there and unless the child only has surface issues the working model they use is not equipped to actually help the children in any meaningful way and they pass the buck to someone else. Very disappointed in this so called youth mental health service."
"It was terrible I didn't feel welcomed very uneasy, it didn't feel like they were helping at all with my issues. Two month getting on the wait list because I missed one appointment, I nearly killed myself in those two month wait period because I felt like I wasn't listed to. Also hated the colour green it gave me so many headaches"
"Went here for a good 6 months or so, once or twice a month. Staff were pretty helpful, but ultimately referred me on to other psychologists. The "induction" process I found more useful to me than the regular sessions, but by the end of the 6 months I felt I'd at least learned what my problems were, if not how to solve them. At least the staff are friendly enough. If you're looking for some deep and meaningful psychology sessions, find someone else, but if you want a face to face conversation with some people who are willing to listen, I'd recommend Headspace."
