Welcome to Ben Hope Guitar Tutor, located in the beautiful suburb of Redlynch in Australia. As an experienced guitarist, I offer relaxed and fun one-on-one guitar lessons suitable for students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. My teaching style focuses on providing students with the skills to truly enjoy and appreciate music, helping them to develop their ability to hear and learn with their ears.

I firmly believe that the real joy of music comes from creativity and experimentation, and I strive to incorporate these elements into every lesson. Listening is a crucial part of learning music, and I make sure to include active and focused listening exercises in many of my lessons. By stimulating multiple areas of the brain and challenging students to fulfill their own creative ideas, playing an instrument promotes creativity and overall cognitive development.

To ensure successful learning, practice must continue at home. Parents need not worry if they lack the skills to assist their child, as I provide learning materials and guides to make home practice easy and effective. Above all, it is important to maintain a positive and encouraging learning environment at home, free from criticism.

Music is a language, and just like any other language, it can be learned through listening, imitating, and improvising. By embracing this idea, students will develop strong aural skills, enabling them to learn songs on their own and cultivate their own musical voice.

Born and raised in Cairns, my passion for playing guitar began at the age of 8. I have since honed my skills and have had the pleasure of performing as the guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer for the Duo Twelve Ballet. Through this experience, I have had the opportunity to open for notable Australian acts such as Amy Shark and Vera Blue.

Now, after more than 13 years of playing guitar, I am thrilled to pass on my knowledge and skills to aspiring musicians. I understand the passion one can have for an instrument, and I am dedicated to fostering that passion and assisting each individual in their personal development. Above all, my goal is to make lessons fun and inspiring, helping each student reach their desired musical goals.
