About the Business
Welcome to The Orthopaedic Research Institute of Queensland Mater Hospital (ORIQL), located at 7 Turner Street in Pimlico, Australia. As a renowned establishment and point of interest, ORIQL is always on the quest for innovation and enhanced treatments in the fields of orthopaedic surgery and musculoskeletal medicine.
ORIQL is a non-profit, registered charity dedicated to conducting clinical and scientific research in the fields of Orthopaedic Surgery and Musculoskeletal Medicine. We work in partnership with James Cook University, The Townsville Hospital, and the Mater Hospital Pimlico to develop and conduct research programs that aim to improve patient outcomes and advance medical knowledge.
One of the key aspects of ORIQL is our commitment to education and training. We provide a conduit for pre-vocational orthopaedic trainees to conduct clinical research, allowing them to contribute to the advancement of orthopaedic knowledge. Additionally, we offer arthroplasty and sports medicine fellowships, providing specialized training opportunities for orthopaedic surgeons.
At ORIQL, we are proud to have Dr. Kaushik (Kosh) Hazratwala as part of our team. Dr. Hazratwala is a Specialist Lower Limb Orthopaedic Surgeon with a particular interest in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction, Sports Injury Surgery, and General Limb Trauma. With his expertise, we are able to offer a wide range of services to our patients, including shoulder and upper limb procedures, as well as hip and knee arthroplasty and arthroscopy.
In addition to our research and clinical services, ORIQL also offers fellowship programs for orthopaedic surgeons. We have two AOA accredited fellowship programs, the Lower Limb Arthroplasty Research Fellowship and the Upper Limb Arthroplasty Research Fellowship. These programs provide surgeons with short-term supervised training in a specific sub-specialty of orthopaedic surgery. The objective is to allow surgeons to develop their surgical skills in a sub-specialty through a work-based surgical program provided by a supervisor and institution.
At ORIQL, we are dedicated to advancing the field of orthopaedic surgery and musculoskeletal medicine through research, education, and collaboration. We strive to provide the highest level of care to our patients and contribute to the development of innovative treatments and techniques. Visit us at our location in Pimlico and experience the expertise and dedication of our team at The Orthopaedic Research Institute of Queensland Mater Hospital.
