At Southside Martial Arts Academy, we are proud to have Sensei Ashley Densmore as our Head Instructor. He is a fully accredited martial arts instructor through the Martial Arts Industry Association (MAIA). Additionally, Sensei Ashley holds a Blue Card issued by the Commission for Young People, ensuring the safety and well-being of our students. He is also certified in First Aid and CPR, prioritizing the health and safety of all individuals at our academy.
Our club follows a traditional Shotokan Karate based style, offering classes for both children and adults. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced martial artist, we warmly welcome you to join our community. Shotokan Karate originated on the Ryukyu Islands in what is now Okinawa, Japan. It was later introduced to the Japanese mainland during a period of cultural exchanges between Japan and China in the early 20th century. Since then, it has been systematically taught and practiced in Japan, becoming a renowned martial art form globally.
