Reviews
"A genuine wildlife experience that helps you understand and appreciate Australia’s unique ecosystems and the need for conservation."
"My wife and I spent a day with Martin ,on a dedicated birding tour of Melbourne. We were particularly interested in owls. To our delight, we were able to see a juvenile powerful owl, at close quarters. Plus numerous other birds in a variety of habitats. The guide was expert, informative, and a pleasure to deal with. In addition, the business appears to have the highest ethical standards, with a serious commitment to sustainable tourism. Strongly recommended. Not inexpensive, but excellent value."
"This day was more than what we had expected. It is wonderful to explore Australian wildlife with individuals that have the animals' well being in mind. We learned a great deal about Victoria's koala habitat, endangered status and what they are doing to minimize animal habitat destruction. Our guide Amy was fantastic. We spotted 4 adorable koalas, two being quite young and a few mobs of kangaroos. This was the highlight of our stay in Melbourne. Thank you!!"
"Everyone please think TWICE before going on a trip with this company. They don’t offer a Refund no matter what and their prices are much more higher than similar tours that might be better than this one. They also start the tour very early at 9 AM. I went to a similar tour with Grey Line to Philips island but 40$ cheaper they offed a refund and started 12:30 pm aslo we saw the PENGUINS parade in addition to KOALAS and KANGAROOS ."
"The highlight of our mother and daughter trip to AU was this three day tour. The company, Echidna Walkabout Nature Tours, has a strong investment in the area and is directly responsible for koala protection and identification. BUT, beyond the organization itself, our three day tour with Brett, and Dan, who was training with Brett for two days, was exceptional. Both guides were knowledgeable and had good senses of humor, and Brett knew all the best little coffee stops along the way. Day 1 we saw at least three sets of moms that have been identified by nose pattern/name with their joeys, mobs of kangaroos in the wild, one nursing her joey, and countless birds, all of which Brett could identify. Lunch was provided Day 1, and Brett made billy tea for us. the first night's accommodations were at the Little River Bed and Breakfast (remember the Little River Band? Well, here's from whence they hail!), a very comfortable and accommodating lodging with a restaurant next door for dinner. Good food! Next morning, Brett and Dan arrived to spirit us to the coast to take in sightings of birds, water fowl, and geology around Petersboro and Port Campbell and a wonderful walk through part of the Great Otway National Park rain forest. Grabbed dinner and set off for a bird migration that roosted on an island/outcropping right after sunset. Day three was was an early rise (our preference) for an at-dawn opportunity to see the Twelve Apostles at sunrise. We didn't have full sun, but it was incredible nonetheless. Roamed the beach below and soaked up the nature and timelines that created such a marvel. Our drive back to Melbourne included stops at Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, Bay of Martyrs, and the lava fields around Lake Corangamite. Just writing this review brings back all the highlights of such a fantastic vacation for us but also the true gift of what this company does for Australia. Thanks Brett, Dan, (and Janine, Echidna Tours' Director)."
