"We held our wedding ceremony at Hunter Design School on 6 June 2020 and could'nt be happier with how it turned out. We had initially booked the ceremony somewhere else but given covid restrictions we had to change venues and we are so glad we did. The ceremony was everything we had hoped it would be. Thank you for being so professional and easy to deal with. Thank you so much, Dane & Alex."
"Hunter design school is probably one of the only schools I know of that is really passionate about students knowing how to originate design and be job ready. I hear so many messages out in the big world of education, study here and get your dream job, be ambitious, study for free and so forth, but I think this school's message of disruption, boldness, pushing boundaries and owning your future is where education should be. I know some people who see this as a negative and that's ok for those who just want to get a certificate, but from what I see, there are some students who really do want to push those boundaries and be the best at what they do and they have definitely achieved that. It's sort of funny that a school, or any business for that matter, who is passionate about being up to date can sometimes be seen as scrambling or unorganised, but from what I saw down there today was a school who is constantly changing with the fast pace of opportunity, staying ahead and growing with the demands, rather than just being satisfied to stay comfortable. I say keep going, keep growing and keep doing what you're doing because it is absolutely tremendous and definitely something the hunter region needs because I truly believe the day is coming where Newcastle will be on the world map for music, film and design. and WOW, your current exhibition is amazing, I see myself living in that container house. I have many colleagues in Sydney and beyond who are always keen to employ a student from hunter design school, the only catch is, we just need to convince them to leave Newcastle."
"Last year I studied the Diploma of Colour Consulting at HDS and it was the best decision I made. I learnt so much in just one year and the industry contacts and experiences that HDS provided were invaluable to my training and ability to start my own business. Everyone is so welcoming and truly care about you getting the most out of your course. The trainers are extremely knowledgeable and supportive, I couldn't imagine getting the same attention at any other school. I would definitely recommend HDS to anyone wanting to study design. I would love to return to continue studying and build my skills."
"I am currently studying two courses at Hunter Design School and studied last year with the school as well. I can not recommend this design institution enough! HDS has not only encouraged and inspired me to be every bit imaginative and creative, they have also supported me every single part of the way. The classes I am in are so amazing and my peers and teachers are so accepting and encouraging of everyone's unique individuality. Thanks to HDS I now have clear direction with the path I'm heading down for my future in a creative industry. I have never had any issues with the school and find that all the teachers are approachable and friendly. This is definitely the place to go to study design."
"My experience with Hunter Design School wasn't a great one. In my opinion, their biggest downfall was in management, administration and communication. I studied a 6 month course and I think it may have been one of their first.. the whole thing felt rushed and unorganised, and I don't feel as though my time at the school was productive because we were always skipping from lesson to lesson. Additionally, I never received all of my course work at the beginning of my course. Sections were missing, so when we were going through them in class I had to read of someone else's sheet (only 1 student in the class had the whole booklet). This made it difficult when I was trying to learn and practice class work at home. In fact, it wasn't until the second last lesson that I received the completed booklet. I raised this with my educator numerous times, but it was never rectified. These are just a few example of my overall experience. In saying this, our other teacher, Ana, was an incredible teacher (we had two teachers for two different subjects). I always felt as though her lessons were organised and would recommend a course that she teaches. At the end of the course (2015), we all received an email from management asking for feedback on our course. I hesitated at first, then decided to write a professional letter that was confidentially addressed to the managing director, outlining my honest experience with the school, hoping that this would highlight things they weren't aware of and give them an opportunity to improve. In the letter, I asked for a simple acknowledge that it was received. To date (March 2016), I have never received an acknowledgement or response. I feel that this alone exemplifies by overall experience... a lack of communication, management and professionalism. Hence why I felt the need to share this review. This course was a huge financial expense, which made me even more disappointed that I didn't do enough research before making a decision to study here. I certainly hope that they take my written feedback into account (even if I didn't receive a response), because a school like this is a great addition to the Newcastle area and I'd love to see it become something great. I don't normally leave reviews for things like this, but by sharing a real review and my experience, I hope that people can make a professional and informed decision about where they choose to study."
