"Great spot for people watching and taking it all in"
"Mid-tide, this is a wonderful spot for a relaxing swim and for kids."
"Historic Tidal pool good for swimming snorkeling, family fun. historically built by convicts / soldiers in colonial setter times in Newcastle. Today it’s popular with locals and tourists weather permitting. On high tide many anglers catch black fish."
"Great place to take young kids snorkeling. Lots of very colourful sea life to see. For snorkeling, time your visit to make sure the tide is between 0.7m and 1.3m and the swell is fairly calm. Below 0.7m it's too shallow to snorkel (still good for a swim) and above 1.3m the waves are above the rock barrier so a bit rough for young kids. Make your own judgements, but if the swell is bigger than 1m it can get very foamy as the waves crash over the barrier, making the water milky. If you and your kid are adventurous, this is a bucket list tick."
