"I went and got a full set of acrylics last week. The customer service was poor - I showed them a picture of what I wanted and they just shrugged and handed me the colour choices. They did a poor job (my nails are so uneven and bumpy). I used to be a regular customer a few years ago but it appears since then it’s gone down hill."

"I am mortified. XO should be ashamed. The services and “skills” this salon deceptively advertised are an absolute joke. I attended this salon as part of a bridal party days before the wedding and not one of us was left happy. Shapes were wonky and uneven, cuticles were bleeding, the brides nail even popped off on her wedding day! A full group review has been left by Sam F with pictures. As for me, I was left with bleeding cuticles on several fingers. The injuries were unnoticed by staff until I made them aware of it and expressed the pain I was in. They then roughly “cleaned” the wounds with antiseptic, taking no regard to the comfort of their client. As someone who has worked in a nail salon, I was appalled at their management of the situation. As for the nails themselves, the technical application was just plain silly. I’ve seen nail tech students on their first day do a better job. Sloppy acrylic slapped everywhere, being wiped off and wasted while power is also being dropped on the wet nails. I along with the other bridesmaids had to trim acrylic from off our skin when we got home just so we didn’t appear quite so crusty on the wedding day. Now for the pedicure. I was burnt with the hot stone during the sorry excuse for a “massage”. A food bath with some creams slapped on is a better description for the service they provided. The lady that did my toenails did an okay job, but as for the other ladies I was with I’m afraid they didn’t get so lucky. Their luck is that the shoddy paint job is prematurely lifting off- at least they’ll be rid if the tacky paint job soon. The only positive I have about this place is regarding their seemingly youngest employee. She was easy to communicate with and very friendly and helpful. She walked me and the mother of the groom to the bathrooms around the corner and chatted happily. I was sad to see her disappear out back for the latter half of our time there. My suggestion, fire everyone and give the business to her. Safe to say I will never recommend this salon to anyone, and you can bet I’ll never be stepping foot in there ever again. XO, you suck."

"As a uni student, I don’t always have enough room in my budget to justify getting my eyebrows waxed. When I do though, I always go here. Not only is it affordable, but the people who work here are incredibly skilled and professional. I wouldn’t trust my eyebrows with anyone else in Newcastle. I also love that XO Nails has full transparency with its customers, they’ll tell you straight away if they can fit you in now, or if you should come back another time - this seems small but not every business does this, and I’m really appreciative because it shows they respect my time."

"This is the second time in 31 years of my life I e ever had my nails professionally done so I know near to nothing about the nail terms and what each thing is etc. The old Asian lady who did mine was at first irritated and came off rude each time I couldn’t understand her accent mixed with the fact I also didn’t understand what anything was due to being a newbie at nails being done. So she wasn’t understanding at all and I felt very uncomfortable didn’t help I have anxiety about anyone doing my nails at all along with her being irritable and grumpy towards me. When she did my toes she kept bumping the uv light into them when placing it over while they’re wet and wasn’t allowing them enough time with the light to dry I left my shoes / socks off the entire time even after till she finished my hands which all up was an hour so they should’ve been dry I got home and my socks had stuck to my toe nails polish because they weren’t ready. Won’t be going there again the service is not friendly towards those who are new to doing this and the quality was as I would describe cheaply done I’ve attached photos as much as the photos can pick up The owner and other girl seemed lovely towards their clients so this is not on them but the woman who did mine I would never want her to do my nails again the rude attitude towards me and lack of understanding towards someone new Ps I do want to say I mentioned via Facebook message that I’m new to getting nails done doesn’t look like they considered it and let their staff know"
