The Junction Youth Health Service 30 Scotts Crossing, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory 2601
About the Business
Welcome to The Junction Youth Health Service, located in Canberra at Scotts Crossing, 30. As a multi-disciplinary institution, we strive to deliver holistic care to young people in need. Our dedicated team consists of GPs, nurses, youth workers, and a receptionist, all working together to support the well-being of our community.
At The Junction, we offer a wide range of services to cater to the diverse needs of young individuals. Our experienced GPs provide comprehensive primary care services in a well-equipped practice. They possess specialized skills in mental health, drug and alcohol assessments, and reproductive healthcare. We also provide smoking cessation support, sexual education, and STI management, as well as baby and early childhood health checks, mental health care, antenatal shared care, and health education.
To ensure accessibility for all, The Junction has recently introduced a mobile service called The Junction Youth Outreach Van. The van visits different locations twice a week, providing support to those who may find it difficult to reach our main clinic in the City. Staffed by a doctor and a nurse or youth worker, the van welcomes new patients without the need for appointments. You can simply turn up during our hours at Uniting Care Kippax in Holt on Tuesdays or at PCYC Erindale in Wanniassa on Wednesdays.
We are committed to eliminating financial barriers to healthcare, which is why all appointments are bulk-billed through Medicare, ensuring no cost to the patient.
At The Junction, we understand that young people may face various challenges and require additional support. That is why we always have a youth worker available during our opening hours. Our friendly and compassionate youth workers can assist with emergency food relief, Centrelink applications, housing, budgeting, advocacy, Medicare Card applications, job applications, obtaining birth certificates, and filling out paperwork. They can also provide outreach assistance by organizing transport for healthcare appointments and helping young people access other essential services like Centrelink and ACT Housing.
Additionally, if you're aged 12-25 and missed out on getting your Ls in school but want to start driving, The Junction provides free training. This includes two full days of training, including the knowledge test.
During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all patients requiring testing will be redirected to a COVID-19 Testing Clinic. For health support outside of our operating hours, please reach out to Health Direct on 1800 022 222 or the National Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 020 080, available 24 hours.
We understand the importance of meeting basic needs, which is why emergency food relief is still available at The Junction. To book an appointment or inquire for more information, please call us on (02) 6232 2423 between 9.30am-5.00pm.
Furthermore, The Junction runs small group programs in local high schools, focusing on various health-related topics. These groups are tailored to the specific needs of the participants and cover subjects such as healthy relationships, body confidence, mental health, contraception, and sexually transmitted infections. Whether you require a one-off session or ongoing support, we can arrange a program that suits your student group's needs.
At The Junction Youth Health Service, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare and essential support to young people. We strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where individuals can access the services they need to lead healthier and happier lives.
