About the Business
Welcome to Karabar High School, a comprehensive and inclusive secondary school located in the beautiful suburb of Karabar, Queanbeyan, NSW. As an establishment and point of interest in the area, we take great pride in providing opportunities for all students to reach and extend their learning potential.
At Karabar High School, we believe in inclusivity and offer a NSW Department of Education Partially Selective High School program. This means that we cater to a wide range of students, ensuring that everyone has a chance to excel in their studies. In addition, we also offer a selective performing arts program for gifted and talented performing arts students from across the region, allowing them to explore their passion and talent.
Our commitment to comprehensive, inclusive, and individualized programs makes us honored to be active partners in building the future. We understand that the period before the HSC exams can be stressful for students and their families. That is why we provide support and guidance during this crucial time, ensuring that students are well-prepared and confident in their abilities.
Education Week is an annual celebration of NSW public education, and we are proud to be a part of it. This event recognizes the achievements of our schools, teachers, and students, highlighting the dedication and hard work that goes into providing quality education.
The Department of Education values the input of parents and carers, and we encourage them to share their valuable feedback on the draft plan for NSW public education. This ensures that we continue to improve and meet the needs of our students and community.
Attendance is a crucial aspect of a student's education, and we emphasize its importance at Karabar High School. Regular attendance ensures that students don't miss out on valuable learning opportunities and helps them develop good habits for the future.
We would like to take a moment to acknowledge and pay our respects to the traditional custodians of the land on which Karabar High School stands. We also extend our respect to Elders, both past and present, for their wisdom and guidance.

"The school isn't nearly as bad as it seems, but I wouldn't say it's the best. As of now, I'd say a majority of the issues come from the students rather than the teachers. From my personal experiences, most of these people are yrs 7-9, though not limited to that group. Though if you do behave well and/or excel in schoolwork, there are plenty of opportunities that would not be open if you had not put the effort in. 3/5 - room for improvement"
"karabar high schools support and policies around bullying is non exsistence! they choice to blame my grandchild instead of the bully! would not recommend this school whatsoever! 12 months of torture and no help from anyone no one wanted to deal with it!"
"Great nuggets of wisdom from Mr Bozza which I continue to apply in my teaching practice. Mr Cunningham also shared excellent planning strategies to increase my ability to plan things out well in advance. Principal Turvey came across as very approachable and suggested some good hacks to assist with my teaching repertoire. Most staff are welcoming. For the most part, the staff and colleagues seem reasonable at this school and I am very grateful for the teaching experiences I've had here. Enjoyed my time here. Favourite class was definitely the year 10's. Always teeming with new ideas, mischief and creativity. Never left me bored."
"It was pretty good aside for that one time where I got stabbed. Joking aside, Karabar High School was surprisingly much better than it's reputation would have you believe. Good teachers that are always helpful, other staff are a different story."
