About the Business
Welcome to Canberra Girls Grammar Senior School, located at 48 Melbourne Avenue in Deakin, Australia. Our institution is not just a school, but a point of interest and a place where young people, girls, and women are encouraged to believe that anything is possible.
In 2023, we are excited to bring back our much-anticipated music-festival-style concert, showcasing the incredible talents of our students. This event is just one example of how we foster creativity and provide opportunities for our students to shine.
At Canberra Girls Grammar School, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the chance to develop their strengths both inside and outside the classroom. We take great pride in our award-winning initiatives, specifically designed to assist students in fulfilling their dreams and creating independence and pride. Our school is a home for the brave-hearted, where students are encouraged to take risks and embrace challenges.
Our approach to teaching and learning goes beyond traditional methods. We understand that the meaning of 'knowing' has evolved, and we strive to develop independent, reflective, and globally aware lifelong learners. Through our curriculum, we focus on helping students locate, apply, and synthesize information and knowledge, preparing them for the ever-changing world.
Lifelong learning is a gift that carries through all stages of education, from our Early Learning Centre to the Junior School and Senior School. We encourage our students to actively seek experiences that will broaden their wisdom and maturity. We foster a culture of curiosity, where asking questions and seeking help is encouraged throughout their schooling journey.
Our bespoke pastoral care program is designed to support the social and emotional development of our students, complementing their academic pursuits. Tailored to the needs of each age group, our program is framed by our signature initiatives, ensuring that our students receive the support they need to thrive.
As a medium-sized boarding house, we take pride in getting to know each and every boarder personally. Our staff is dedicated to supporting and nurturing each girl, valuing their unique strengths and qualities. Our boarding community is diverse, including students from regional and remote areas, as well as those whose families are in the Defence Forces or Foreign Affairs on overseas postings, and international students.
The co-curricular program at CGGS is an integral part of the educational experience. It encompasses a wide range of activities that support, enhance, and complement the formal academic curriculum. We believe that personal growth occurs when students and staff have access to a broad range of experiences.
We are also proud to have a dedicated Defence School Mentor who understands the unique challenges faced by students from military families. This program helps forge meaningful connections and provides support to Defence students and their families.
At Canberra Girls Grammar Senior School, we celebrate diversity, academic excellence, and independence. As an independent non-selective Anglican school, we strive to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment for all our students.
We would like to acknowledge the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples as the traditional keepers of the land on which we gather. We are inspired by their wisdom, spirituality, and experience. We recognize and honor the Indigenous women who have shared their language, country, and culture with us. We are committed to working alongside them for reconciliation and justice.

"Loved my 8 years as a student at CGGS. Lifelong memories and friends. Inspirational teachers. Amazing co curricular."
"my child cries every day from homework cause there is just so much! and my other child in the junior school is learning decimals in year 3 they think there smart doing this but year 3's will just end up being "behind" cause you shouldn't be learning that until year 5 at the youngest"
"a lot of stairs. like a lot of stairs. lots of traffic during drop off and pick up times. a lot of teachers are really nice and funny and the rest are still pretty good. very big school and i got lost many times. lots of smart kids as well."
"Can't talk about other parents or kids as everyone has their own experiences. My daughter is in prep and so far out experience has been great. She enjoys going to school and her teachers from ELC to prep have been good for her development. Couldn't ask for more."
"i moved schools this year, and may i just say i'm having a much better experience at my new school than i had at cggs. i mean, there are a few good qualities that cggs has, such as decent canteen food (the garlic bread is superior!), all classes apart from science from my experience mark fairly, education is fine and some of the teachers are absolute legends (shout out to mr walker!) as well as very helpful. but a handful of students on the other hand are extremely toxic, and the house i was in treated me really awfully, which explains why my experience wasn't as phenomenal as some other students' are/were. but like i said, there are some great things at the school. my main advice for people choosing to move to cggs is to PLEASE CHOOSE THE RIGHT FRIENDS if you're also looking for a great social life with your education!!"
