About the Business
Welcome to the Nature Education Centre (NEC), a unique establishment located in Netherby, Australia. As a point of interest for nature enthusiasts, the NEC is dedicated to inspiring young minds and fostering a deep appreciation for the study of nature.
At the NEC, we believe in the power of hands-on experiences to engage and educate students. We offer school visits, where our Education Officer brings a range of exciting native animals for students to study and touch. These animals are not available for loan, providing a special opportunity for direct interaction and learning. Our goal is to ignite a passion for the natural world in the hearts of young people.
In addition to animal visits, the NEC also loans out animals, natural history specimens, and a variety of fascinating kits to our loyal and engaged members. These resources serve as valuable tools for educators and students to explore and delve deeper into the wonders of nature. We proudly service schools in the Adelaide metropolitan area, ensuring that as many students as possible have access to these enriching experiences.
We constantly strive to improve and expand our offerings, and we value the input of our members. Your suggestions and ideas are crucial in shaping the future of our organization. We encourage you to explore our website for more information on the talks we offer and how you can get involved.
As a non-profit organization, the NEC relies heavily on donations, sponsorship, and volunteer assistance. We deeply appreciate any support from the community, whether it be through individual animal or cage sponsorships, volunteer involvement in animal care, educational events, resources, or administration. Your contributions help us continue our mission of preserving and studying our natural environment.
The NEC was initially established as a project with the South Australian Science Teachers Association (SASTA), and we are proud to have recently extended our Memorandum of Understanding and partnership with SASTA to 2024. This partnership ensures that we can continue to work together towards our shared goal of promoting scientific curiosity and environmental preservation.
Visit the Nature Education Centre and embark on a journey of discovery and appreciation for the wonders of nature. Join us in nurturing the next generation of nature lovers and environmental stewards. Together, we can make a difference.
