About the Business
Welcome to The Woden School, a unique institution located in Deakin, Australian Capital Territory. Our school offers a specialized high school and college program for eligible students who meet the ACT Disability Criteria. We cater to students with intellectual disabilities accompanied by various medical conditions, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, or behavioral challenges.
At The Woden School, we prioritize individualized instruction by maintaining small class sizes. Our dedicated teachers are nationally recognized for their expertise in differentiating the curriculum for students with disabilities. Starting from Year 7, our students are enrolled in adapted and modified courses that align with the National Australian Curriculum. Alongside their mainstream peers, our students study core subjects, choose electives based on their interests, and engage in a range of exciting and age-appropriate extracurricular activities.
Upon completion of Year 10, students have the opportunity to transition to other government schools in the ACT, depending on their eligibility and personal choice. Many students seamlessly transition to Canberra College, our local college, with comprehensive support. Others may opt for other supported college settings in the ACT based on their residential location. Some students are eligible to continue their studies within the Woden Secondary College Program. All college courses at our institution are approved and recognized by the Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS). Our teachers have carefully adapted and modified these courses to ensure meaningful and relevant learning experiences that lead to success.
For those students who choose to continue their college studies at The Woden School, we offer courses of study resulting in either a Modified Year 12 Certificate or a Secondary College Record. We provide a variety of ASDAN BSSS registered units to enhance their educational journey.
At The Woden School, we prioritize the future success and well-being of our students. We work closely with students, their families, and carers to plan for a range of transition and post-school options. Our Individual Learning Plan process ensures that each student's unique needs and aspirations are considered. While we actively seek partnerships with support agencies, training organizations, other schools, employers, and community groups, we recognize that our most important partnerships are the ones we forge with our students and their families.
As we operate in the Australian Capital Territory, we acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as the traditional custodians of the land. We also acknowledge and respect the contributions of any other people or families connected to the lands of the ACT and region. Their continuing culture enriches the life of our city and region.

"Visited The Woden School for a Lego exhibition. All the classrooms looked lovely and spacious. Great inclusive playground equipment and plenty of open space in the back"
"I have heard from many friends that even though that it’s a special school it is still a normal high school there’s kids that do illegal substance’s and I would not recommend this school there’s no punishment for actions and I personally think there’s no difference between this high school and other public high schools"
"Lets just say there's a reason they call him the HEADmaster."
