About the Business
Welcome to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), located at Leverrier Street in Bruce, Australia. As a renowned establishment and tourist attraction, the AIS offers a wide range of services and resources to support athletes, coaches, officials, schools, sports organizations, and the scientific and medical community.
For former AIS athletes and staff, as well as those across the National Institute Network, we provide the AIS Be Heard support service. This service offers assistance and guidance to individuals who may require support after their time at the AIS.
Additionally, the ASC Restorative Program aims to support former AIS scholarship athletes who may have experienced harm from inappropriate practices or abuse. We are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all athletes.
If you're a young athlete between the ages of 12 and 18, you may be eligible for the Local Sporting Champions Grant. This grant helps cover the costs associated with participating in an eligible competition.
At the AIS, we believe in creating positive and inclusive experiences for everyone who wants to participate in sports. Our Inclusive Sport program ensures that individuals of all abilities have the opportunity to enjoy sports and physical activities.
We also offer grants and funding opportunities for individuals and sporting organizations through Sport Australia. These opportunities aim to support and nurture talent in the Australian sporting community.
Understanding the importance of physical literacy, we provide resources and information to help individuals live active, healthy, and fulfilling lifestyles. This includes understanding the physical, psychological, cognitive, and social capabilities that contribute to overall well-being.
For schools and teachers, we offer AIS School Group visits, where students can enjoy a fun and active experience at Australia's elite sporting precinct. We also support schools through our Sporting Schools program, which aims to increase children's participation in sports and connect them with community sporting opportunities.
Sports organizations can benefit from our Participation Design Toolkit, which assists in creating insight-driven and participant-centered plans and experiences. We also provide resources on sport governance principles, ensuring that all organizations can provide positive and inclusive experiences for their participants.
Coaches and officials can enhance their skills through our Community Coaching - Essential Skills Course and Online Officiating Course. These courses help create safe, inclusive, and effective coaching and officiating environments.
The Clearinghouse for Sport is our platform for providing high-quality information, research, and analysis about sport, human performance, and physical activity. We strive to share knowledge with the scientific and medical community to advance sports science and sports medicine.
Concussion in Sport is a key focus area for us, and we provide evidence-based information for athletes, parents, teachers, coaches, and medical practitioners. We also offer position statements and best practice guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of athletes.
The AIS campus in Canberra offers various facilities available to the public, including an aquatic center, outdoor facilities, and the interactive Sportex experience, perfect for school groups. We aim to provide accessible and engaging opportunities for everyone.
As an institution, we are committed to supporting former athletes and staff, identifying and developing world-class coaches, and innovating to deliver customized technology and equipment for athletes.
Sport is a chance for girls to showcase their skills, be part of a team, increase their confidence, and build lifelong friendships. At the AIS, we celebrate the power of sport and support all girls in achieving their goals.
We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands where our offices are located, including the Ngunnawal people, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, the Yugambeh Nation, and the Gadigal people. We extend this acknowledgment to all Traditional Custodians and First Nations peoples throughout Australia. We pay our respects to all Elders, past and present, and recognize the outstanding contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to society and sport in Australia. Sport has the power to promote reconciliation and reduce inequality.

Reviews
"Great experience for both kids and adults. Great tour guides in Will and Steve. Really good knowledge and informative."
"Great site. Great to view the training facilities of top athletes in Australia."
"Note: I am ONLY reviewing the AIS tour ($20) and not the facility itself. 5 stars for the tour structure, inclusion and guides. Our tour started at 1pm with 45 minutes in the big game room. The room was big and full of interactive games for both children and adults. Best, you could score a goal by kicking the football on a screen that recognise the speed and the angle of the shot. See pics for all games available. After around 45 mins we left the game room for 10 mins visit to the actual sports facilities where our atheletes are actually trained. They take you to the event room that can be setup to host various events. Today it was setup for basketball. Good that the guides share a little bit of history and fun facts on each of facilities to make tour fun. We went to other facilities like Gymnasitics, gym, aquatic center etc. Tip: its worth taking your kids here when there are atheletes here. Unlike today (xmas holidays) when we didnt see anyone training."
"Great to do the tour, see the facilities some of the top athletes use, and then go for a swim after. The sportex section where we go for to use some interactive sports stuff was the highlight- more than 30 mins in that section would be good!☺"
