About the Business
Welcome to the AIS Visitor Centre, located at 26 Leverrier Street in Bruce, Australia. Our institution is a unique blend of a cafe, establishment, food destination, point of interest, and tourist attraction.
At AIS, we offer a range of support services and programs to cater to various needs. Our AIS Be Heard program provides support for former AIS athletes and staff, as well as individuals across the National Institute Network. Additionally, our ASC Restorative Program aims to assist former AIS scholarship athletes who have experienced harm from inappropriate practices or abuse.
For young athletes, we have the Local Sporting Champions Grant, which offers grants to 12-18 year olds to cover costs associated with participating in eligible competitions. We also provide information and resources for individuals and families, focusing on inclusive sport and creating positive experiences for everyone who wants to participate.
If you are looking for funding opportunities, our Grants and Funding program offers individuals and sporting organizations a chance to receive funding through Sport Australia. We also emphasize the importance of physical literacy and understanding the various capabilities that help us live active, healthy, and fulfilling lifestyles.
For schools and teachers, we offer AIS School Group visits, where you can enjoy a fun and active visit to the AIS, Australia's elite sporting precinct. We also have the Sporting Schools program, which helps schools increase children's participation in sports and connect them with community sporting opportunities.
Sports organizations can benefit from our Participation Design Toolkit, which supports them in delivering insight-driven and participant-centered plans, products, and experiences. We also provide resources on sport governance principles to create positive and inclusive experiences for all participants. Our Ausplay survey is a continuous national population tracking survey that measures the physical activity rates of Australian adults and children.
Coaches and officials can take advantage of our Community Coaching - Essential Skills Course, which helps create fun, safe, and inclusive environments for participants. We also offer an Online Officiating Course to assist officials in learning the basic skills to officiate effectively. Our Clearinghouse for Sport provides high-quality information, research, and analysis about sport, human performance, and physical activity.
For the scientific and medical community, we offer resources on concussion in sport, including evidence-based information for athletes, parents, teachers, coaches, and medical practitioners. Our AIS position statements and best practice guidelines are evidence-informed and cover the frontiers of sports science and sports medicine.
At AIS, we pride ourselves on being an environment like no other. Whether you are touring, staying, or holding an event at our world-class sporting precinct, you will be inspired to discover the champion within. During your visit, don't forget to visit our AIS cafe, where you can find everything you need to get you through the day.
We also want to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands where our offices are located, including the Ngunnawal people, Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, Yugambeh Nation, and Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We extend this acknowledgment to all Traditional Custodians and First Nations peoples throughout Australia and pay our respects to all Elders past and present. We recognize and celebrate the outstanding contribution that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples make to society and sports in Australia, and we believe in the power of sport to promote reconciliation and reduce inequality.

Reviews
"Very informative & has definitely grown since I last went in the early 90's. Whole family enjoyed it"
"There's a tour, but that's about it. Having said that, it goes for 90 minutes and you do get to see quite a few of the training areas. If you're lucky, you might even catch a few athletes doing their thing. A shop and a cafe round off the trip. Two hours, tops. Plenty of free parking, but the tours are ticketed."
"Good tour, but they could do more to engage ppl, more stats/ facts would make it better. Only one hall had athletes training, so don't expect to see many. The Sportex at the end made it a great experience for the kids, but only 30 mins unfortunately."
"What a fanstic place. A must do while you're in Canberra. Great opportunities to do tours and see what many of our Olympic athletes have to go through to represent Australia. There is always a heap of school kids around during the day but they move through quickly."
"Very surprised about the ordinary facilities at the complex. This isn't a reflection on the coaches which we didnt have contact with, however the entire facility has aged and looks tired. Wouldnt say it was world class, not even close. The two young athletes that conducted the tour were a pleasure to listen to and a credit to the institute."
