About the Business
Welcome to Mitcham Primary School, a renowned establishment located at 20a Hillview Road, Kingswood, Australia. As a primary school, we take pride in providing a nurturing and inclusive environment where students can thrive academically and emotionally.
At Mitcham Primary School, we strongly believe that student wellbeing is essential for academic success. Our core values of respect, resilience, and responsibility are integrated into every aspect of school life. We strive to create a caring community that fosters the growth and development of each individual student.
Our educational priorities place a strong emphasis on Literacy, Numeracy, and STEM engagement. Our dedicated teachers are committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences that deeply engage students while challenging them intellectually. We celebrate the diversity of our school community through a wide range of programs, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to actively and positively engage with the world around them.
Literacy is a key focus at Mitcham Primary School. We believe that students become literate as they develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to interpret and use language effectively for learning, communication, and active participation in society.
In mathematics, our aim is to provide all students with high-quality teaching that promotes rich mathematical knowledge and understanding, a positive mindset, and the ability to apply mathematical skills in their daily lives.
Over the past few years, we have fostered a culture of problem-solving and innovation, particularly in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Our students are highly engaged as they develop their skills in these areas and explore real-world applications.
We would also like to take a moment to acknowledge the retirement of our Assistant Principal, Lexie Anderson, after 22 years of dedicated service to Mitcham Primary School. Lexie has made significant contributions to the education and wellbeing of countless students within our community, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude for her commitment and passion.
Recently, our Year 5/6 STEM Extension students showcased their Augmented Reality games at the Cumberland Park Community Centre. These games were designed with the goal of increasing movement for older people from ECH. Augmented Reality involves overlaying computer-generated images onto the real world, and our students demonstrated its potential for various applications, from gaming to assisting individuals with disabilities.
We have also celebrated Book Week with great excitement this year, extending the festivities over a few weeks. Our students had the opportunity to hear from visiting authors and performers, engage in library challenges, and participate in the Great Book Swap.
While our Year 7 students typically conduct school tours for parents, the current COVID-19 pandemic has made it impossible to proceed with in-person tours. However, a group of Year 7 students has taken the initiative to create a virtual tour, allowing us to showcase our school to others. This student-led project utilized design thinking principles to create an engaging and informative video.
At Mitcham Primary School, we are dedicated to meeting the learning, social, and wellbeing needs of all our students. We strive to provide a welcoming and safe educational environment where students, staff, and the community feel valued and supported.
In addition to our comprehensive curriculum, we offer specialist teaching subjects such as French, Physical Education (PE), Performing Arts, and Science, enriching our students' educational experience.
Due to our reputation for excellence, Mitcham Primary School is a popular choice for local families, and we receive numerous enrolment enquiries from across Adelaide. To manage the demand for places and in accordance with our agreements with other local schools, parents are kindly asked to complete a Registration of Interest Form.

"James loves the school environment, buildings and grounds. The teachers provide an excellent education and put a lot of effort into the tasks. He enjoys learning with his friends, playing math games and going outside for fitness."
"most of the teachers are nice, however in year 7 my teacher was horrible, she deserves to be fired. me an my brother both went to this school and my brother had a horrible reception teacher. i played clarinet from year 3-7 and they forced me into doing band when i didn't want to, even on my reward day on the last day of primary school ever. my 1st clarinet teacher was great but then he left and they got the flute teacher to teach us, which was a mistake, they should have gotten another specialist clarinet teacher. My year 4 teacher however was the best teacher I've had in my life. Ms Atsalas is amazing anyone who has her is so lucky. enjoy your "nature walks""
"It is my school and it is awesome people are nice and they have great learning i have learnt so much at that school even thoe i have only been there for mabye 7 months i recommend going to this school if your looking forba school"
"Mitcham is a brilliant school and offers and amazing education for all ages. It has great morals and does not tolerate bullying in any way. The only reason they charge extra for drama is because they have a specialist drama teacher come in and is doing it as an extra job"
