"TLDR: male hairdresser does not know how to cut women's hair and now my bangs look like I am having lopsided regrowth after hair loss. Had a male hairdresser today who was pleasant and polite. He was shown a reference photo of a standard medium length haircut with some layers and curtain bangs starting from just below the cheekbones. I have straight, fine, untreated mid-length black asian hair. From the very start, he did not seem sure of what he was doing. The first red flag was when he did a midline parting to begin the haircut, but it was neither straight nor centered. He proceeds to cut the curtain bangs in a very hesitant manner. He went back and forth between cutting my bangs and the hair at the back, and ended up cutting a few center strands of bangs at eye-length. It was way too short, asymmetrical, and heavy on the right side. I ended up telling him to stop as he was still trying to cut it even shorter. He continues to cut the rest of my hair, but his layers towards the back were not properly segmented and haphazard as well. Eventually, I asked him to stop completely, as he clearly did not know what he was doing even with the curling iron that he was using to style. The final result is messy and asymmetrical, from the super short center forehead bangs I did not ask for, to the jagged 'curtain bangs'. I have had many haircuts but this is the first time I have ever felt anxious sitting in a hairdresser chair. I paid in full for his time ($68 for under 1 hour), but cannot recommend this hair salon to anyone."
