"If you are looking for a school which is not interested in connecting with the parents of students and the local community, then this is the school for you. If you are just interested in dropping off your children as early as possible and not being a part of your child's learning journey, then pick them up as late as possible, this is the school for you."
"I went to Hillcrest Primary School during the 1970's and have nothing but fond memories of good friends and inspiring Teachers. Of playing on the jungle gym, competing with friends on who could jump the furthest on the rope swing, doing all the things that children aren't allowed to do now because its "unsafe". Of teachers who knew what they taught and did it in a way that grabbed your attention and sparked passion in it. Sadly, reading the overview of Hillcrest Primary School now, it "appears" to be run by ideologues and may be more of an indoctrination centre than an educational one?"
"i went to this school from yr 1-6 and dang was it an experience, to say the least. this school was pretty good, i had some fun times n stuff, but i always kinda felt like i was treated differently by the staff and other kids, just because i was east asian (aka chinese). i thought it was normal before, even wanted to be a different race than i was, but now that im in high school im treated completely differently (and shall we say, normally) and its really made me think about my experience here. it wasnt open harrassment of any kind, but i do reccomend you think about this before sending your child here. all in all, schooling here was alright, pretty average, basically what you'd expect from a public primary school. i suggest the teachers n staff look into letting students from year 3 and up bring their own devices, as lots of other schools do it and it seems to be mostly beneficial. i wont say who i am, but go ahead and take a wild guess !!!"
"It was great until I got to year 4. I got accused of trying to set a fire when I was just looking at my hand through a magnifying glass. There has been some questionable employment for teachers. I'm really sad That Mr. Grigg left the school. His replacement was great. I mostly enjoyed it but bullying was not very punished."
"I went to this school from year 5-7 in 2015-2017. Honestly I was going through a really rough home life that I never mentioned at school, literally ever. I didn’t feel like confiding in any teachers of mine, however I did feel safer being at school. 2017 was definitely a hard year for me, home was abusive, but going to school? That was where I felt safe. My teacher was Mr Sweeney and he honestly is the only reason I made it through that year. Without his guidance I would’ve never been where I am today. There is always that one teacher who really changes your life as a young child and Mr Sweeney was THAT teacher. Truly helped me through the toughest year of my life, even though I never once confided into how hard life at home was, he was always very friendly and made school easier. Thanks to him, I have gotten very far in life, I never would have if it wasn’t for him but I now work for the government at 17!! He was truly the best teacher, he needs an award for his outstanding teaching- Brianna F"
