"Flatpack Builders were suggested to me by one of the IKEA kitchen consultants. They seemed fairly good to deal with. However, I'd noticed a couple of deep gouges on the wooden floors (from when they were dragging out the old cabinetry) plus a couple of deep scratches on my brand new stainless steel hob. Over time (less than six months) the door panel skin for the dishwasher had come loose so I got in touch thinking it would be no issue being within the warranty period. Unfortunately, they went a bit quiet and ignored my phone call and emails sent to raise the issue. Had they sorted it, I wouldn't be leaving a negative review. But on principle and also now seeing other negative reviews - it'll be good to save other people from the hassles. I got in touch with IKEA who'd sent a different company out to help. The second company said that the door panel looked to be a used one and wasn't designed to be used as the dishwasher skin. He said there are previous drill holes and cut-outs (for hinges) - which you don't need for a dishwasher. Saying the installer had used a panel from somewhere else."
"Unfortunately, I had a rather unpleasant run with this company. They were hired to install an IKEA kitchen and perform and manage the full installation. However, after the third day of work (which was supposed to be the last) as the last tradie was leaving, I asked if they knew when the guys would be back on site to finish up the work as there was currently no plumbing or electrical to the kitchen. They did not know which was fair. I followed up with Flat Pack Builders and was met with a terse response of "The kitchen installation is complete". Which left me confused as I did not realise that a non functioning kitchen would be considered complete by any standards? They followed up with an Electrician and Plumber would be on site on Monday for the fit out (5 days in the future at this time). Further communications with this company were also fruitless as they would take up to a day to respond to any questions I had about the installation. Reviewing the work that was completed, there were a number of issues, from random screws pointing out of the wall to draws not closing that were not addressed (photos attached) Would not recommend. That being said the tradies were all lovely people."
"We had a big problem working with this company. We paid for the installation of the kitchen from IKEA. However, they did not finish their work. We left our house for one week. When we came back home, we saw a lot of items that should be a part of the kitchen but they did not put it. They did not follow instructions. Also, they damaged our floor and replaced it, but the new floor includes a lot of gaps. They are really not professional. Please do not work with these people!"
"We have had a very disappointing experience with Flat Pack Builders. We were initially slated in to start installation on 14 March 2022 of our IKEA kitchen. However, we received an email, addressed to one of their other customers, with the following: 'Due to Covid and a staff members family relocating interstate we have had to reschedule our upcoming installations. We have had to move your installation to begin Monday 21st March. We will be on site at approximately 9am.' Acknowledging the fact that we are living through a pandemic now, we were happy that we'd atleast have our kitchen done, albeit delays by a couple of weeks. Therefore, we did not go ahead and question as to why there were no back ups in the business for any one missing service provider. What we had not checked on though, were their job ads on their Facebook page for an installer on the very same day, they informed us of the postponement of our job. Our revised installation date was 21 March 2022 and three days ago, the business had called us up to say their installer has resigned and cannot go ahead with our work as promised. As I was doing a little reading on Google, I realized they had cancelled someone's job earlier, and that was the latest review on Google for this business. I am unsure if I am to give them a benefit of doubt, but nonetheless, I am disappointed and have been left high and dry by Flat Pack Builders to start our process of finding for the right installer, once again. And the wait time is a lengthy 2 months to say the least. There was no regret or remorse from their end, there was no customer service, and they certainly did not even tell us that they'd try their best to meet the promise that they have made to us. We waited a whole 2 weeks, only in good faith, after sending through the deposit, but this business has only wasted our time and our belief in them. Absolutely appalling, disappointing and certainly not one to recommend to anyone else."
"We organised to have our kitchen and laundry installed by Flat Pack Builders. We lined up a date with time to allow for delays in IKEA’s delivery, paid a deposit and it was booked in well ahead of time. A week out from the installation and on the day all our cabinetry arrived, they reached out via email to say they were no longer able to do the installation, citing that the ‘installer’ in our region had moved interstate. We were extremely disappointed with the outcome and can only assume that the work was subcontracted and communication was lacking. Having no redundancy in the ‘team’ to install kitchens is terrible. We did not get a response from them asking for them to elaborate as to how this happened, but we did at least get our deposit back. Would strongly avoid unless you like having your time wasted."
