Shiraz Trail Unnamed Road, McLaren Vale, South Australia 5171
About the Business
Welcome to the Shiraz Trail, a must-visit tourist attraction located in McLaren Vale, Australia. As part of the Coast to Vines Rail Trail, this establishment offers a unique experience for both locals and tourists alike.
The trail, spanning a distance of 38km, begins at the train station in Marino Rocks and follows an old railway corridor all the way to McLaren Vale and Willunga. The section from McLaren Vale to Willunga is known as the Shiraz Trail, renowned for its stunning scenery and flat terrain. As you traverse this picturesque trail, you will be captivated by the beauty of the surrounding wineries and vineyards.
Unlike the northern section of the Coast to Vines Trail, which passes through suburbs, the Shiraz Trail takes you through the heart of the renowned McLaren Vale wine region. Immerse yourself in the lush vineyards and indulge in the rich history and flavors of this world-class wine-producing area.
The trail itself is a shared-use path, featuring a wide, bitumised surface that follows a tree-lined raised railway embankment. This makes it easily accessible for walkers of all abilities, including wheelchair users. Along the trail, you will find comfortable seating and shelter, often located at old train stations. These rest stops provide the perfect opportunity to take a break, soak in the surroundings, and perhaps enjoy a picnic amidst the natural beauty.
Your visit to the Shiraz Trail will culminate at the former Willunga Railway Station, where you can reflect on your journey and appreciate the historical significance of this site. Along the way, you may also come across rest stops, such as the one in Morphett Vale, which offer additional amenities to enhance your experience.

Reviews
"Quiet scenic walk."
"Beautiful trail that shows some of the beautiful Vale views, and leads you around the best wineries."
"Shiraz trail is part of a longer trail called Coast to vine trail. This trail is more suitable for cycling than walking as it is smooth, asphalted and wide enough. It passes through McLaren Vale vineyards. Abundant vine trees, and also lots of olive trees are on the way. Name Shiraz comes from a city in Iran famous for its wine and poets. This marvelous city was home of an astonishing poet named Hafez who his poets are full of metaphors with wine."
"If you plan on renting a bike, make sure the spinway bike hire is not broken. It's also possible to rent ebike from SA-ebike, but you better book it the day prior. Other ways enjoying the wineries around the trail is by foot / by foot + Uber (which was really reasonable price between the wineries). If you walk or bike, a lot of the cellar doors are not directly connected to the Shiraz trail and require riding or walking on the roads. It's not as comfort or safe as riding the Shiraz trail. I still highly recommend going off the trail and visiting them."
