About the Business
Welcome to Australian Skin Cancer Clinics - Cannington, located at 22 Cecil Avenue. As a reputable institution in the field of healthcare, we prioritize the well-being of our patients and aim to provide top-notch medical services.
At Australian Skin Cancer Clinics - Cannington, we understand the importance of regular skin checks, even during the winter months. Contrary to popular belief, skin cancers do not hibernate during this season. It is crucial to remember that covering up in winter should not lead to neglecting our skin health. By doing so, we may unknowingly place ourselves in the "out of sight - out of mind" category, potentially missing early signs of skin cancer.
Winter actually presents an ideal time for a skin check, as our skin is less exposed to harmful UV rays and is therefore less traumatised due to cover up. Taking this opportunity to schedule a skin check at our clinic can ensure you stay on top of your skin health, allowing for early detection and prompt treatment if necessary.
It is important to note that Australia does not have a formal skin cancer screening program. This means that each of us must take responsibility for ourselves and our families to ensure our skin checks are up to date. By being proactive and regularly visiting our clinic, you can play an active role in the prevention and early detection of skin cancer.
The statistics surrounding skin cancer in Australia are alarming. More than 2000 Australians lose their lives to melanoma each year, while 600 lose their lives to squamous cell carcinoma of the skin. These numbers highlight the urgency and importance of prioritizing regular skin checks.

Reviews
"Being a long term customer of the Skin Cancer Clinic Cannington (SCCC) one would have hoped for better customer care than what I recently received. Background: I received a recent and unexpected phone call from the SCCC receptionist, informing me that my newly appointed skin cancer doctor was refusing to take or answer any medical question/s I had in relation to their prescribed skin treatment cream and that she would not retain me as a future patient. The reason given by the doctor, for what I deem uncarring behaviour/s, was that I had refused to pay an earlier bill, which was completely untrue and unfounded. I am not one to normally write reviews, but I was so taken back by the nature of this call and the finality of the doctors decision, (without any consultation with myself), that I felt others needed to be aware that this could happen to them. Sadly and unbeknown to myself, my long term SCCC Doctor (who was a brillant doctor and a lovely human being) left the practise not long after recommending a skin treatment cream to me for use after summer. It wasnt until I made a f/up post summer call to the SCCC re: picking up my skin treatment cream script, that I learnt of her departure. Whilst on the phone, I asked if I could simply collect my script at the same time as my wife's appointment, as we had both been reallocated to the same new skin cancer doctor. I was told this would be fine and that I didnt need an appointment as my previous doctor's notes were on file, approving the said treatment. On the day of my wife's appointment, I simply collected my script prior to her appointment and upon her return to reception, we were both presented with a $100 appointment fee. My wife paid her fee as she required and had booked an appointment, however I questioned my fee and was told by reception, that every appointment attracts a fee. Whilst I totally understand the reasoning behind an appointment fee, I tried to point out that I had never requested nor had an appointment. Upon pushing back a second time, reception told me that their scheduling system automatically generates an appointment fee when ever a request is made of a doctor, as in my case for script. I replied saying, that I felt it would have been appropriate to mention this up front? Reception went on then to say, they had no authority to reverse the fee and that they would speak with the business manager upon her return to the office the following week and that if I heard nothing further during that week, then the fee had been waivered. Having heard nothing further and when I had a question regarding the application of my skin treatment, I naturally called the SCCC. As my doctor was not available on the day I called , reception said they would forward her a message and she would be back intouch upon her return to the clinic, which is when I received the aforementioned phone call. On a personal note: It has not gone unnoticed, via my "My Gov account" that SCCC made a claim to and received a medicare payment for approx $40 post my visit. Further, SCCC were once a bulk billing clinic but now have become a fee for service clinic with regular fee increases and whilst I dont question their right of choice to change their business model and manage their own fee structure, I will always question and challenge what I deem as poor patient care, as in the case shown to me. My choice is and has been to go elsewhere. We are very fortunate to have a number of very good bulk billing skin cancer clinics in Perth. 10th July 2023 - reply to the Skin Cancer Clinic Cannington responce. Evidentual, you choose within your reply to justify fee increases rather than speaking to the body of my review, which focussed on "Poor patient care". Whilst a mistake or two can be forgiven, its how their addressed that truely demonstrates ones willingness to own, to have empathy for and show an intent to, make right the wrong. In my view, your reply shows non of the above, which is why I am non longer a supportive customer."
"Always good experience and helpful dealing with professional doctors"
"I was suspicious about a growth so had a complete check of my body done. It was removed (after biopsy all good ) another was found in my hair line. So so small I would not have seen it. I will return yearly for checks. Fantastic practice, staff are great."
"Dr. Chris always friendly and professional. Has some growths frozen off - healed up with no problems. Downside only is the TV in the wait room is too loud and on Commercial channel with those Horrible Adverts for Life Insurances and cheap funerals. Hey! I am in a Cancer Screening Clinic!!!."
"Took my elderly father-in-law for a check. Doctor decided to cut out a lesion. Either didn't use enough local anaesthetic or was just very rough but was painful. Three days later has developed a very bad infection. Definitely would not recommend!"
